Added sub, should i remove stock sub

I added an enclosed 10w7 to my trunk of my 2009 tech tsx, the stock subwoofer is receiving no signal now. Should i take it out or leave it in ? I would prefer not having to fuss with it. Will it rattle from being moved by the w7's bass ?

No it will not rattle. Being that you have the box sealed I would recommend pulling the stock sub. If that were ported, I'd leave it in. Reason being is the ported box will throw out a bit more bass and it is easier to hear the sub itself (don't laugh... what i mean is you'll hear the movement and will detect resonance more easily and that isn't a good thing.) But being sealed? No worries there. I had this sub before in a previous car powered by a PPI PC1800.1. Tried ported and sealed. But its still all to taste. And it isn't a big deal to take out the stock sub.

That's funny. I don't think you've ever really heard a w7.

Using the stock sub as a passive subwoofer, in a way, is fine. Especially when using a w7. I wouldn't want all that pressure coming directly into the cabin. Unless you don't care about your hearing and you only want to sound like rattle can then screw it, take the damn thing out, unhook your highs turn the bass level and volume all the way up and thump around like a ghetto POS.

loll, c'mon bro i bought 10w7, u know what i care about. I think i'll prob leave the stock sub in then.

im running it off a 1400 watt pheonix gold amp with the bass turned to zero and the sensitivity (gain) at 1/3rd.

lots of space

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

The right seat still folds down and I put my hockey sticks and ski's in there no prob, and I can still put at least 2 golf bags sideways.

Also, I only used 2 brackets to secure it, it can be taken out in under 5 min.

Does your trunk rattle with 2 12s?

Very nice. How are you liking the W7 in the TSX?

Im loving it. Only down side is that the Tech package head unit controls which frequencies it thinks my sub can handle. ( it thinks i still have the stock 8 inch ). So frequencies in the higher ranges ( like the 80's) are routed to my components instead of sub.
So when a song has a bass sweep from 80 to 30; it will be quiet at the top and when the W7 kicks in half way down it will be so loud. This wasnt a problem with the Stock sub because it wasnt much louder than the components so the frequency cut off wasnt noticeable. Im guessing this is true for any one that has any sort of aftermarket subs hooked up to their subwoofer Out on their tech package. Some people may not have notice tho.

What phoenix gold amp did you get? I have 2 12" kicker comp vr's in a sealed box with a 2000w power acoustik amp and 2 farad capacitor. I left my stock sub in mainly because I don't want to remove the rear deck

That would seriously piss me off. Another reason I'm happy I stuck with the base model. Wonder if there will be any way to adjust the crossover frequency in the future other than ripping out the stock amp entirely, which I hear won't really work.
