I hope the vendor understands the hefty fines involved with selling this product and their liability if someone has an accident while watching video and driving.

Actually, he made that "wink, wink" offroad comment.

The term 'offroad' does not exist under the regulations so any device that can be fitted on a registered car must comply with all regulations - regardless of where the manufacturer or driver (wink, wink) intends the vehicle to be used.

The manufacture and sale of that device is prohibited by law. While many aftermarket parts are illegal, what set me off in this case is the OPs 'offroad' comment.

I suspect that the OP will get an unpleasant letter shortly explaining the facts and requiring a recall along with said fine..

What these goofballs don't understand is that these parts must comply with the laws or face fines. APC and a bunch of other aftermarket headlamp manufactures got hit with recalls a few years ago for thousands of housings. Each one had to pay a few hundred thousand dollars in fines and had to recall the housings - difficult when you sell the crap on the net and through stores like Autozone.

Often, the feds will send out a "you can't sell this stuff" letter, but - like me - they tend to go farther when a manufacturer thumbs their nose at them.

all of our units are equipped with parking brake wire, you must engage parking brake in order to operate this device, during installation you must connect wire to parking brake, basically parking brake wire of NavTool video interface must see ground in order to operate NavTool interface
