09 TSX Tech Pkg Stock Amp Issue
Hi all,
As the title suggests, I am having issues with my stock amp. My rear speakers are no longer generating sound; I know this because when removed from the car and wired up to an external stereo, they work. My uncles who are car Audio guys from their younger years suggested it might be the amp of the car itself. The front speakers work for now as do the ones in the rear behind the headrests. As it stands, the rear sub does not work either. Recently, I paid to get two 12" subs installed, and when they tapped into the rear sub to get the signal, they could not because there is none; further suggesting the stock amp is on its way out (they tapped into the 6x5 beside the sub instead). Trying to get this system installed is how we investigated that this problem exists.
So having said that, I was looking into replacing the stock amp with another from a crashed car BUT mine is different because I have the ELS system and most crashed TSX available are premium package or base. The other alternative would be using a 4 channel amp to run the front and rear speakers and bypassing the stock amp altogether; however from reading other threads it appears the audio adjustments all occur through the stock amp and not in the head unit itself. Then I read about complications with the bluetooth and what not.
So, I am not sure what to do. I was thinking that maybe I can use the amp from a lower model tsx and I would lose out on some of the quality of ELS; but then again I don't use DVD-A discs to get the full potential right now, and also, my goal is to be bass heavy as opposed to recreating a sound studio in the cockpit. Not sure if the connections to the ELS and lower model amps are the same or not either...
Any help and guidance is appreciated.
Thanks.

Thank you, I will begin looking at it. I had no idea that was even a thing.
