Yes or No?

Yes or No?
Just trying to get an opinion. I really want to do it, but have been told not do it. Just a quick photoshop. My car is on stock rims. I saw other member have something similar, but theirs was dropped and on rims, so I had to create my own...so yes or no?

do it, i think it looks better and a tad bit sportier...even the rear lip spoiler for this car blacks out that part of the rear end.

The intent of blacking out the lower portions of a car is generally to make it lower. Here it doesn't do that but it does hide the exhaust cut-outs.

Everyday I'm rofling
I'd say try it. Tape it off and plasti dip it wouldn't take too long. For an hour or two of prep and $6 its not a big deal if you end up not liking it and peeling it off. I feel like its tricky though to follow the lines and have it blend well in, but you'll soon find out!

i like it, a good alternative instead of spending 500 bucks on a sports rear bumper (which i still love haha)
i'd becareful with plasti dip. i would go with the vinyl route since it has a more clean cut off line vs. plasti dip, where when you rip out the tape the edges might be a bit rough. but vinyl can get very tricky and time consuming

i stared at the picture for a good 2 min, looking at the exhausts, tires, tailights, thought maybe sport bumper, till i realized you blacked out the diffuser. i don't like it too much on silver, i think it makes the car look higher

Correct. Oddly enough, on this car it does the exact opposite of what it normally does. Here, it makes the car look higher and narrower - odd

Well, I got the idea from an a-spec bumper. I just dont have the cash for it YET!! So, ive never done any vinyl work or plastidip..so from what i researched, you just spray on the plastidip? and wait for it to dry, right? I really want to try this look. And yes i just noticed, it does make the car look more narrow and somewhat higher..wierd.

Lol, I was sitting there scratching my head trying to figure out what changed too...
It doesn't bother me. My TSX wagon is blacked out like that... didn't even notice it till the first time i waxed and polished my car...

^^ hey thats me! yeah check out my thread... you will see pics. I personally loved the way it looked. On white it looked great. Getting a perfect line was a little difficult and there are some areas that arent exactly perfect, but no one can even notice unless you are looking for it. ANDDD if you check out this video.. http://dipyourcar.com/shop/page/50?shop_param= you wont have to worry about the plastidip sticking to the tape anymore. PERFECT LINES. Such an easy fix, wish I knew before I did my project. Anyways good luck with whatever you choose.

ssjoe- thanks for the link. I think it will help. And, from far away, does it look good? can you post up a picture from farther away, cuz you have it up close on your thread. If you have time, that would really help.

Didn't someone here Plasti-dip their chrome grill, and when they went to remove it it took the chrome off? I'd keep Plasti-dip off the paint, vinyl IMHO is the better choice.

Yeah Ill try and get some more shots from far away. And it really does look good. I was really happy with it.

Yeah that was me too, it was only on the smiley face part. But that paint was cheap anyways, It had small nicks and stuff just from daily driving. I think what happened to mine was a combination of Florida heat and cheap paint from Acura. Not too worried about it.

I would use vinyl. It would be very hard to get the plastidip to lay in a straight line. If you use masking tape, it will case jagged edges when you peel off the tape cuz the plastidip will cling to the tape.

agreed with pyro... I might fix mine up when I have time too. Here is a far away shot you were asking for.
And, only the smiley part gave me problems as far as the paint goes... but go look at it right now, it looks cheap and even feels like cheap paint right from the factory.

Nahhh you will be fine. It won't mess anything up. I'm pretty sure the heat coming off my tips are way hotter than it ever gets down here and the plastidip isn't showing any signs of wearing off or doing anything harmful to the paint. When I posted about my grille no one had ever seen or heard of that problem so I'm summing it up to cheap oem paint plus 5 layers a black rubber causing the issue. It would be very easy to find the paint code for that metallic grey and re paint it if something did happen. But in the end, painting your diffuser will be perfectly fine. Good luck!

ssjoe, theres actually a TSB for that, which you were told i think... it wasn't the plasti, as i've taken mine off, and i didn't have any peeling. hold on, im gonna find the TSB for the grille...
yea here, i found it. look under 2010 for grill peeling https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tsx-2009-2014-143/2nd-gen-tsx-tsb-information-789358/.
the heat will not make the plastidip bind to the metal, or paint. plasti actually bonds as it cools because it pulls together to form like a stretched layer of whatever you plasti. heating it will only help take it off
