Window Tint

I know there are alot of posts out there on the internet about window tints. But i havent seen any of the white 2nd Generation TSX's with window tint. I was talking to the dealer and they said 5% tint on the white doesnt look good. But in my opinion i think it would. I was wondering if anyone had pictures of their white TSX's with 5% and 20% so i can see the difference on the car. Also, pros and cons would be nice for both. I have come up with this so far:

5%-
Pros: Hard for people outside to see inside / Keep vehicle cool (I live in Vegas)
Cons: Very hard to see out at night / Illegal (35% on Front, Any on Back in NV)

20% -
Pros: Easier to see out at night
Cons: Can see inside from outside easily

i have my black 09 tinted to 35% front and back and at night you cannot see in the car. That is probbaly becasue my interior is also black. I have enough trouble seeing at night as it is so i didnt want to tint too dark. Plus here in NY any tint is illegal and 35% is more "tolerated"

If its between 5 and 20, I'd go with 20's on the front and 5 on the back three windows, Maybe tint your windshield 35 or 40 if you really want that dark look,

That way you can still see your mirrors some what at night, if you got a back up camera nice I can't see out my rear window at night and its 18 %, yay for back up camera

I ended up going with 5% just because the dealer said the inside is beige and therefore won't be as dark as if i had a black interior. I'll post pictures later when i get a chance (and when my 15 day trial is up) so everyone can see it. Thanks for the help!

my argument for 5%'s (which is what I have on my car) is if you're trying to decide between 20% or 5%.....go with 5%. They're both illegal so you obviously dont care about tickets. 5% isn't going to give you a larger ticket over 20% anyway. Just go with what looks better and be happy. Unless you honestly can't see through 5%'s at night, then go lighter. I can see just fine and *never* had any problems with it

also, as someone else suggested already, tinting your windshield is such a bad idea. I had it done and its a pain in the ass, especially when it came to inspection stickers. legally, they have to put the sticker on the windshield. But this will ruin the tint since its hard to remove it. So many people put the sticker on a static-cling sheet and put that on the glass but unless you know your inspector, not many people will allow you to do this.

Besides the fact that if a cop sees your tints, there's a chance you will not get bothered but if he sees your windshield tinted, there's NO chance of you getting away with that unless you have some sorta dr's note or whatever.

If you dont care about all that, then comes the decision of what level of tint you want. 35% is wayyyyyy too dark for the fronts. Being that its the glass you look thru the most, you'll need as much light coming through there as possible. I had 50% on the front and i found that a bit too dark as well.

this is all my opinion and I'm sure many people will disagree.

yeah i'd disagree with 35 being to dark for the fronts, I can see fine out my fronts now my rears, being as they're 18's i can barely see out of unlesss there is a street light or something. So 5's i can only imagine..

The 5% look great! It's not too bad in the day time actually. Im just waiting til night now to see how it is driving. It is sort of hard to see the mirrors but can easily see your blind spot if you look back.

Well, in NV, you can have whatever you want on the back and 2 rear windows. The front has to be 35% or higher. I think window tint is a secondary offense too which means you have to do something else wrong first.

my brother just got 30 all around. he drives a black on black mazda 3 and is slightly dissapointed at how well you can still see inside. i have the grigio interior and i was thinking about 30 but after seeing his, with the much darker interior, im thinking now to go 20 all around. i know PA has some tinting restrictions so i dont want to draw any extra attention. so has anyone done different levels of tint for their front windows and the rear windows?
i was thinking of 20 in the back and 30 in the front. but i dont want it to be noticable. i like the uniform look.
anyone got pics of that? or is it better to just go 20 all around.

I just got 35% and it sorta has a factory look to it - keep in mind it depends on 2 factors- colour of car and interior - Mine is Grigio with black interior so I opted for a lighter tint so that it would not be too dark - even 30% is good too! but again depends on colour or car/interior.

i just got 20 all around. the car looks great from the outside. ill post some pics later on.
but from the inside, i feel like i can see a lot of imperfections. some tiny bubbles here and there. only noticeable if you really look. i tried taking pics of those too and ill post them.
is your window tint perfect?

How long has it been since the tint was installed? Seeing some bubbles is normal early on. If it's been a couple of weeks, then I'd say no - not normal. It takes time for the water between the tint & the window to evaporate fully.

No prob... I had mine tinted about a week ago (i too have the grigio with taupe) with 30% all around. i still have a few minor bubbles on the rear window....nothin' major tho; hardly noticeable. i had the deck lid (lip) spoiler installed, too.
