Wheel locks - nice surprise
Just picked up a new 2010 i4 base. It came with wheel locks. I guess that's standard but it was a surprise to me since they're not mentioned in any literature.
I'm happy I have them but also pissed. Another dealer (one that I didn't buy from) stated that they automatically put wheel locks on their cars and it would be $70 extra. I HATE DEALERS!

Don't feel left out if you didn't receive wheel locks - they are total JUNK. I have stripped two keys and 1 lock due to the poor craftsmanship. The locks are pretty much useless....Ultimately, all you have to do is pound on a 3/4" socket to the wheel lock insert the ratchet and abracadabra - the lock is off.

I just picked up a set of gorilla locks from summitracing dot com...$40 bucks shipped and all 4 lugs are locks and are buried deep enough in the rim to be VERY hard to get off for a thief.
About the OEM ones...have many variations of the flower pattern could there possibly be? I guess I just don't trust them. The gorilla ones have different colors too to add some flair.

I've got a set of Project KICs R26 lugs on my RonJons now. I can't believe I had a regular set of non-locking chrome lugs on them for as long as I did.

LOL...whoops...missed that...yeah...all four wheels are locked with all 5 lugs now! lol...
Yeah...me neither...I see a lot of people take this for granted. I started noticing on forums from my EP3 days that factory wheels retrofitted on other models/years were a hot ticket item...ever since then I've always locked mine up.

Would be easy for thieves to strip some cars and take off onto Rt. 78.
Well, I'll take them.

WTH happened to my garage
Around these parts, wheel locks, mud guards, sunroof deflectors, pinstripe and other schmutz is "non-optional" dealer installed padding for additional revenue or as a bargaining tool when it comes down to 'the deal'.
If they 'cut you a break' on the $500 "expense" of putting all that crap on your car, you feel like you got a deal.
Wrong? Yes. The way it is? Yes.
We also have $500-$995 "dealer fees" around here too. It's all Add'l Dealer Profit since they have to negotiate "from invoice" now.

How are you liking the Project KICs? I thought they were 4 regular lugs and 1 lock? I'd like to pick these up but I'd be just as worried about someone stealing my $250 locks!

Springfield Honda in NJ tried to pull that bogus BS with me when I bought my 98 Accord. They tried to tell me that undercoating, splash guards, floor mats, and the paint protection package all came from the factory. I hate that crap. I walked out. It didn't really matter to them. They're in a section of Jersey where there's 100 people for every sq inch so they do a ton of business.
I really hate the "dealer fee". Clinton Acura charged almost 200. Ridiculous. They tried to tell me that it was for the clerical work to fill out all of the paperwork. It took the salesman 15 minutes to put in the info on the computer and then it was all printed out...so I guess someone is getting paid $800/hr.
Had to deal with it though. They gave the best price by several hundred dollars and they also had the lowest dealer doc fees in the area.

I was like a dead target for the dealer when i bought my tsx in april 03 since it was a brand new model in demand there was NO room to bargain. It was pay msrp or nothing. So they just threw everything in for that price, wheel locks, mud guards, even the trunk cargo net.
Don't think i'll buy car brand new again. I was right out of college and wanted to feel like i owned something by myself to show off. Now i would buy 1 or 2 year old car if i had to do it again. But at least i paid off my car so its mine free and clear.

I just told my dealer I didn't want the extra stuff they put on if I have to pay more for them, period. They had the splash guards, wheel locks and floor mats on the car. After two managers got involved, I was told they were giving them to me. My salesguy told me they were afraid the car would have scratches if they were taken off...plus they really wanted to sell the car. The arguement they provided goes both ways...why won't I pay a few hundred more for the "extras" with the car? My response is, are you gonna lose the sale of a $30k-ish car to me for that same few hundred $$$? I think not! lol

Three Wheelin'
When I bought my CBP Tech back in June 08, the dealer could not locate a 6MT model in BC. They found one in Alberta and shipped it 700 miles back to BC.
When the saleman handed me the keys, he noticed the other dealer had installed wheel lock as well as engine block heater, which I got without extra charge.

I double check all paper work before I sign anything. There are no such misc fees on my sheet. Then again, the $200 dealer doc fee covers a lot of misc bs.
