Are you trying to figure out the cheapest route or what? The question is unintentionally vague. Cheapest way to drop it would be to drive it off a cliff. Besides that kind of drop, you could do springs alone. Finding out what a local shop would charge for changing out shocks/struts would give you a labor price for that. Coilovers cost more but are a bit easier on the install especially if it is "fully assembled" like a Megan or BC Racing. Then you could always look at buying springs or coilovers used instead of new. I believe there was one single set of coilovers still for sale in the Black Market forum for the 2G TSX for $650. You might want to do some learning with the search button and what supporting vendors sell and go from there.

Very well said. ^

To the OP:you need to ask your self, how low would you like to go?
knowing what you want determines what the cost is. Like suggested above, get to know your springs/coilover options.

Springs are cheap. 200-300 dollar range. but only provide a set drop. and are limited to the stock shock. unless you want to spend more and get a performance shock like the Koni Yellows.

Coilovers: have the ability to damper and adjust height.
the general audience usually lean towards coilovers because of the value.

You can also save money by DIY instead of paying for a shop to install.

Yeah, it's a talent. There's definitely a lot to consider. I'd almost start with budget and figure out the best you can do with that. The budget will always get stretched anyways.

Civichbdx speaks the truth. Dont cheap out on suspension. You will regret it once your stock struts blow...The prices he quoted are pretty realistic as well. If you are not planning to install yourself, add $150-$200 for installation.

its all about what YOU want.
he probably thought that the springs were adequately low enough.
when he got them on the car, he wanted MOAR LOW.

I assure you, it will ride like stock with the stock shocks and s-techs.
if you want to upgrade the shock, koni yellows will do the job nicely with their ability to damper.

it just depends on what your ultimate goal is.

are you after looks or performance?
the value in coils is that you can damper all four corners and adjust the height to what ever you would like.

while, just buying springs will only allow you a set drop.

I can go into the science behind spring rates and such, if you would like.

It depends on how aggressive the drop is and road conditions. I dropped my old rsx on stechs (about a 1.7-2.0 inch drop). The stock struts were done within a year. Even tho roads in miami and gainesville were relatively smooth.

After the struts blew, the honey moon period was over. Ride quality went to crap. You could feel every bump and hair line crack in the road. Going over seams on the highway felt like you ran over something huge. I used to yell seam when taking people back up to gville, so they could brace themselves lol. I would never recommend springs unless you plan on replacing the struts soon after. I do not believe they sell any aftermarket struts for our cars yet. And when they come out, they will not be cheap. $500-600 range was what koni wanted for my old car. And at that point, you are near the price range of tein basics or megan ez.

^ freak occurrence? Alotta ppl here have been happily springing for a while ... :s I'm getting springs as a gift from someone so I'm trying to figure it out. If my struts blow in like 3 years that's fine cause in 3 years I'll have money, and ATM I'll only be putting 6k or so per year on the car

Nope. Seemed that everyone with stechs at my old rsx forum were having the same issue. Average life was about a year on s techs. People were getting more life out of eibach pro kit because of the milder drop. But considering you only drive 6k a year, it will last longer.

Maybe the stock struts on the tsx are more drop friendly. Good luck. The s techs do drop the car very nicely. Other brands seem to drop the rear more than the fronts .

i have s-techs and probably wouldnt consider coilovers unless they were dirt cheap or free.

IMO the drop on s-tech looks just right on 19's

i had s techs for 2 years and no issues with my shocks

btw i paid $160 to install my springs

$80 an hour

I wonder if one could go the other way and do like putting Forester suspension on an Impreza to be more off-road worthy. Would RDX suspension fit? hmmm

Just getting old sucks... I had a Corvette before this and dropped it an inch for about a month, then raised it back up. It hurts having to fall into and climb out of a car any more... LOL... I look at these "kids" dropping the cars and remember when my knees were that good.

Ya know you're getting old when your coilovers are called "Comfort Sport" LOL
