upgraded from 2005 silver Honda Accord EX-V6 NAVI (sedan) to 2010 black Acura TSX TECH then downgraded to a 2006 silver Ford Explorer Limited V8.
I still have all three.
Biggest regret: not getting a V6 TSX.

Honestly, the Lotus is a great second car. I lived with it as a daily driver for 3 years. I live in Los Angeles, so you really can't take advantage of the speed or handling capabilities of the car on your daily drives. It's almost more frustrating to know you can go fast but can't do it because of the traffic and police. If I had time to take it to the track, I would have kept it.
The TSX actually has a smoother gearbox. Honda definitely makes cleaner-shifting manual transmissions. I also took the TSX on some of our curvy mountain roads and it actually really impressed me. Obviously, it doesn't have the feel or responsiveness of the Lotus (I don't think any other car does), but it still felt crisp and composed.
Also, the Lotus was obviously a bare-bones car. It had a 4-speaker stereo system (to save on weight) and manual roll-up windows (also to save weight, since Lotus' philosphy is to "simplify and add lightness"). That was about it for interior features. The TSX has way too many goodies inside, but it's kind of nice to be able to listen to music on my drive instead of the engine note. And the Acura's build quality is much better than the Lotus. The gaps are tighter, there is no creaking and it's just better-built. Believe it or not, most exotic cars usually have more quirks because they are hand-made.
Maybe I'm just getting old! I figured I should enjoy the Lotus while I was still fairly young, instead of waiting until I'm retired. My body wouldn't be able to handle the stiff suspension.
Anyway, I think horsepower and 0-60 acceleration is overrated, especially on public roads. On a track, that would be different. I'm not out to race anyone and endanger lives, but still want a car that is fairly quick and responsive. The TSX accomplishes this for me. The 30 mpg that I'm averaging doesn't hurt either.
The manual transmission still keeps the TSX fun for me. I don't think I'd be able to go to an automatic, especially after the Lotus. Of course, I miss the Lotus dearly, but I honestly don't miss her as much because of the TSX. The TSX has filled the void pretty well.
Anyway, thanks for listening... And enjoy the ride!

Mine was an Elise... More specifically, a Sport Elise, which was one of only 50 built. It had the Ohlins coilovers, upgraded clutch, Lotus Sport interiror (Lotus Sport is to Lotus what AMG is to Mercedes). The Elise has a rear window, while the Exige is a fastback and has the horizontal slats in the back (with no rear window). Yup, I think I still have a Lotustalk account... There's a site called britishspeed.com that has a pretty cool forum too. I wanted to get the new Lotus Evora, but it was too pricey- around $78K.
Ah it is a Sport! Those silver stripes had me thinking...
Thanks for the delineation between the two! I'm surprised I never noticed the non-existent rear window on the Exige.
Your Elise Sport reminded me of a recent thread I read on S2Ki...

Yup, that's the car... It sure got lots of looks, which is nice but also kind of annoying, especially when the looks are from police! All 50 of them were saffron yellow with the silver stripes (painted, not vinyl). That Toyota engine was very similar to our VTEC engine. But with only around 1950 lbs to lug around, it was pretty darn quick. Lotus had tested 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. But it truly excelled in the corners, especially with those racing tires (the tires were so soft, you needed to replace them around 9K miles at $350 a tire). OK, I better stop writing about it because I'm getting nostalgic.
mods
I almost bought a TSX from Thousand Oaks, but they didn't have a manual transmission... No plans on modifiying this one (yet). I'll probably upgrade the tires once these wear out and maybe get a roof rack for snow season and mountain biking... You doing any mods? Anyway, thanks for the compliments on the Lotus, guys.

Not a day in the shop.
Great car. Just time for a newer ride. DH is too tall for the IS or that might have been the one. TSX had a couple of inches more of headroom.
