Water drainage plug in trunk lid?

I was wiping down the underside of trunk lid during one of my washes and hit the plug thats on the trunk lid. See below:

The plug is located under the arrow head. It faces right at you from the center of the lid when you open the trunk. I was wondering what the proper orientation for this plug is. I can slide it to the left side or right but not sure. Just making sure so I dont end up plugging up the drainage hole and preventing water from draining out.

Can any of you guys check this for me real quick? Thanks

it appears to be the internal trunk release latch. mine has the arrow pointing to the right (passenger side); and this is the direction towards which the latch moves.

here's a picture of the underside of the trunk, taken with the trunk lid fully open, passenger side is on the right side of the picture.

hope this helps.

Hmmm, I looked at one on the showroom floor is it seems to be centered with little space in any direction to let water pass. Don't know if that helps but it's all I can see.

Thanks for the effort but thats not the plug/latch I was talking about. I'll snap a pic tonite and throw it up here for clarification.

I was looking at what you're talking about (small piece the size of a chicklette), but it doesn't seem like a drain hole at all to me. It looks like an access cover of some sort.
