I hope they are plastic and not metal. Metal will give you end of grief AND may affect your TPMS - but primarily, it'll fuse to your valve stem.

Plastic only for valve stems with TPMS.

If they are metal then they will fuse to your valve stems. Acura had a TSB out on this for the RL years ago when they first started doing TPMS and ended up having to change the sensors. This is not a cheap repair and it will happen - cheap steel and aluminum don't play well together. This $2.99 mod will end up costing you $500 before you're done and you will hate yourself for not listening to us.

My tsx came with nitrogen filled tires and I'm pretty sure the caps that they gave me from the dealer are some sort of metallic caps...has anyone gotten these caps on their tsx from the factory / dealt with them.

You should have green plastic caps with nitrogen. There are, of course, plastic caps with fake chrome on the outside and they are fine too, but metal caps are the kiss of death to your valve stems.

My sister's RL had the valve stem caps fused so tightly that they had to cut off the stems to replace the TPMS sensors - that was right after the TSB so it was a no charge fix as Acura originally fitted metal caps to early TPMS equipped wheels.

The cost to replace would have exceeded $500 - new sensors are about $400 and cutting the valve stems off and rebalancing the tires would easily be over an hour's worth of labor.

Are shiny metal caps from Autozone worth that?

Not completely necessary. Just check to make sure that your caps are plastic and not metal.

I checked the packaging and there was a warning about using them on aluminum valve stem. SO, back to stock I went!
