Upgraded TSX - 2011 Forged Silver Metallic/Ebony Tech
So I finally bit the bullet and traded the '08 for an '11. I test drove the V6 and an '11 TL base. While I did appreciate the extra power, I don't really need it and with my current track record for speeding, I stuck with the I4. And it's always a plus when your gas mileage improves! The TL would have actually cost me slightly less, but I just couldn't get over the beak on the '11 TL. I would have happily upgraded to a '12 TL but they said it wouldn't be ready for 2 more months here though they do have a handful of them on site. I guess they're already spoken for. They also told me they have about a 2 month inventory of '11 TLs so it would be a while before any incentives, if any. I didn't want to wait and I didn't want a car that's a full foot longer and that I don't really like.
The biggest decision for me was the Graphite Luster vs the Forged Silver. In person, both colors are stunning especially in the bright Florida sun. In the sun I was actually leaning towards the GLM but the true test was during sunset and night, when the GLM basically looked black. Next to a CBP, you really could not tell the difference at night. The FSM, just kept changing and I loved that! It's definitely silver in bright light but as the sun's angle changes, you def get hues of baby blue, blueish lavender, light metallic blue, someone mentioned periwinkle, yes, it's there, even a teal shade comes thru at times.
So far loving everything about the car, especially the upgraded audio options and the console drink cooler! I do notice the higher torque power at lower speeds and that's def a +++. I will miss the sport mode being available via the gear stick but I'll get used the paddles eventually, I guess.
My least fav thing is def the steering feel. I'm very used to the hydraulic and I loved the road feel of the 08. The '11 feels extremely light and that is going to take some getting used to. I was afraid that there'd be too much of a delay between my movements and the car's reaction esp when a quick response is required to avoid an accident. So far, my concerns are unfounded. While it does take some time to respond to slow movements, it responds quite fine to quick steering movement. I didn't get to test this extensively but so far, I'm pleased.
And now what you've been wait for and what this thread would be worthless without...
PICS:
Gotta get them to remove that damn dealer plate. I tried to do it myself but the way it's connected now, I couldn't do it without lifting the car up and even then I'm not sure I can.
Getting the spoiler put on later this week. And getting them to take that plate off!
I think I'll keep the OEM rims until my tired need to be replaced, then I'll upgrade those too.

it's a car-drive it
congrats-I am still trying to decide on whether or not I want to get the '11 tsx. The hold back right now is the color choice. I love my 06 Milano red which is no longer offered. If I want the red one I would have to get automatic which is a BIG NO.

Congrats! IMHO, I think you made the right choice in going with the I4. I also love the color!

Thanks everyone! Hey question for anyone who had a 1st Gen or anyone who knows the answer.
In the 1G, you could select an upper and lower segment for your MID display. For example, if you wanted MPG to display at all times, you could select that. I do not see a way to do this in the 2G. Do you only get 1 choice and that's that?
1G=
MPG
Toggle thru the rest Time Elapsed/Miles Remaining/Tire Pressure
Lower part has odometer/temperature
2G
Just the toggles
Lower part has odometer/temperature
Can someone confirm this one way or the other? Thanks!

Trust me from experience.. I was 1/2 mile away from the dealership in a demo about to pickup my TSX Wagon. I looked left to merge into the left lane, and as I did that the car in front of me started to brake to turn right. I didn't see it, but my wife screamed so I looked up and turned HARD left to avoid the car in front of me. The TSX responded amazingly and accident was avoided.

I hate your car... just joking, bought the same exact car in Feb. I love the forged silver color and even though the V6 had more power, the $5K increase outweighed the adv of that extra power.

Looking nice. I see you bought it from Acura of Pembroke Pines. What part of Miami? It's good to see a SoFL TSX. not that many of us around. especially with the 2G

Congrats! That is a really nice color. I have the base 2010 Palladium Metallic with taupe interior. I do like the color but it was a toss up between white and this color. I had black 1st gen and black was awesome but tough to keep clean, esepcially here in FL. That color looks richer. It's great driving a TSX because they are not as common. I don't know how many people look at the car on the road. I sometimes look to see and sometimes you don't see people look at any cars. How do you not look at other cars on the road to admire?....lol
This car may not have as much power as the 6cyl but like you said you really don't need it. This car moves well enough. The increased low end torque is definitely apparent when comparing to the 1st gen. Paddles are fun!

@kowloonsniperhk: Thank you! I live in Sunny Isles but work downtown Miami. I wasn't sure if you were asking what part of Miami I'm in or where Acura of Pembroke is. It's in Broward county, btw.
@centflatsx: Thanks and I'm constantly admiring cars on the road. And most of the time, it's the two big As: Acura & Audi.
Now that I've had the car for a couple of months, I still absolutely love it. The only thing I still can't quite understand is the two-tier glove compartment. Whoever designed that thing should be shot! Something almost always falls out when I open it. And I'm still not completely used to the backup camera. I still find myself looking over my shoulder sometimes.

@ Civic2TSX - Did you get the spoiler put in at the dealership or did you buy it aftermkt? I am really itching for a spoiler eventhough the car really doesn't need one...
Just found out that it would cost me >$500 to have the dealership install one, but b/c the forged silver paint color is so new, my resources are limited to find it aftermkt...

I had the dealership put it on. I was gonna do it afterward but they told me that if I worked it into the price, it would cost about $200 less than after. I didn't quite believe them until they showed me the numbers.
Oh and since I can't edit my post above, I meant 30 mph, not mpg.

Figured you meant 30mph
Whenever you have the time, can you take a picture of the back of your car... I want to see how it would look on my car... Thank you!

I just got a quote from phil smith in pompano for an '11 tech. would you mind disclosing the details of your pembroke deal? they were asking for $31068 + $1294 for dealer and other fees.

Sorry I was offline for a couple of days. I paid exactly 31k for mine w the spoiler.
I don't have any pics of my car that show the spoiler but I'll try to take some since I'm on a business trip. I do have a pic from when I was just taking pics at the dealership of all of colors, etc. So this is not my exact car but you can see the spoiler. Personally, I think it looks better from more of a side angle.

Go with the Forged Silver... it is different and a very unique color... lots of head turns with that color...
