Thumbs up Types of tint

I have a 09 tech and am thinking of getting window tints. Can anyone share info about different types of tint? like carcoal, ceramic, metallic, etc.
I heard metallic one should be avoided since it interferes GPS or radio?

in all reality, there's no need to get any sort of 'special' type of tint. Just go to a reputable shop and get them done. The only thing you really need to choose is the level of tint (ie. 50%, 35%, 20% or 5%). For the most part, those are the main ones to choose from. Some shops will have others like 15% but thats not too common

I have metallic tint on my TL- it doesn't interfere with the GPS or XM radio at all. A good tint shop should be able to tell you (they have a list) of which cars should not be done with the metallic tint (because of interference with the XM/GPS). Dyed tint is generally cheaper and of a poorer quality (usually have a fixed perior of warranty). They will 'purple' over time. Better tint usually has a lifetime warranty and won't turn purple.

I have Llumar metallic tint and have been really pleased with it.

I've got Llumar Platinum Plus on my car and no issues with AM/FM reception. XM won't be effected regardless of tint. The SAT antenna is on the roof. Just try and find a place that does the computer cut tint (as opposed to cutting it on the window.) And get the moleskin installed. Not sure about the 2G, but the little rubber wiper thingy on the inside of the window is like a razor blade for tint if you don't.
