TSX Trunk

Hey guys. So I gave my friend a ride home the other day and he had put some stuff in the my trunk. I popped the trunk for him to get his stuff out, and I guess he thought he would have to push really hard to open it or something because he ended up slamming the darn thing open. I was inside my car and the force of him opening my trunk shook the car Could this have damaged my car? Maybe it's just me being paranoid, but I want to make sure nothing bad would have happened.

It should be fine as long as it opens and closes normally now.

It opens and closes fine, but in the open position, it extends a bit further than 90 degrees, is that normal or did my airhead buddy mess up my hinges?

Unlikely, but the only way to tell is to compare your car to another identical model side by side.

Not too many friendly enough 2010 TSX owners around where I live lol. Maybe someone could check on their own car and post what they see?

Just drive by a dealer. Your "a bit over 90 degrees" could be 91 or it could be almost hitting the back window. You need to compare it to an actual car. In addition, not all may be adjusted the same.

If your trunk lid opens and closes properly and doesn't leak then don't worry about it. Since you are probably still under warranty you could ask a dealer to check it for you.

If the hinges are bent the front of the trunk will not sit flush with the quarter panels
the trunk will be lower (sunk in)

Does the front of the trunk mean the part where it meets the window or the part with the lights on it?

I'll get pics up soon, but the portion of the trunk meeting the window doesn't seem to be sunk in.. TSX stock photos show that the "front" doesn't sit flush with the side panels, it looks lower and mine looks about the same. Could I spray it with water and check for leaks as a way of seeing if the trunk is disfigured?

Also, I went by the dealer yesterday and compared it to the other TSX's. I wasn't able to pop the trunk and check since they were closed, but I noticed my trunk isn't quite as "firm" when I press down on it as the others.. Like it moves very slightly and makes a gentle click as it moves around rubbing into the lock mechanism. I dunno if this is simply manufacturer deviation in production or a reason to believe my trunk is damaged

no need to buy a new car just yet!

1. watch an episode of MacGyver.
2. get a rubber band
3. some paper clips
4. apply knowledge

your trunk should be good as new!

(btw.. do any of you know who MacGyver is?!)

The Yugo is a bit more modern.

You are way overthinking this.

Follow these steps, precisely:

1. Put airhead friend into trunk.
2. Close trunk.
3. Drive to dealership.
4. Tell them your airhead friend may have damaged your trunk, you would like to compare to other TSXs to see if repairs need to be done, or you are freaking out over nothing.
5. If trunk needs to be repaired, remove airhead friend from trunk and tell him to pay for it.
6. Leave airhead friend there, and drive home.

Or just trade it in for a pinto, it's too late for the trunk now I'm afraid.

MacGyver was the man. TV sucks today...

I think your trunk is fine, but you might want to kick your friends ass anyway. That will learn him.

I might have to do just that.
Actually, I'm taking it in to the dealer anyways to get something else repaired. I'll just mention the trunk too and ask them to take a look for me
