My car was just keyed the other night. Driver's side front to back. What are some of you guys suggestions on how I should have this repaired.

Purchase scratch removal kit?

New paint job?

First off, do you have comprehensive insurance?

I hate people. In general. Always destroy things they either don't like or can't have. I blame it mostly on jealousy.

As far as fixing it? Have it professionally done. See what it'll cost without going through insurance first. If its not much more than $500, and it may be a little under, just pay out of pocket. Remember, you make a claim, your insurance could go up. If not now, when you renew. Even if it costs $700 to get fixed, I'd still pay it myself and leave insurance out of it. And in some cases, even with comprehensive at $500 deductible, some agencies like mine will cover damage like this for no out of pocket expense. Check on your policy first before you assume you actually have to pay anything.

Good luck with that. Hope it doesn't happen again. And get it fixed right! You TSX is worth it.

DANG...the key marks really show up on a dark car...AND the marks look deep.

Looks like a new paint job may be required.

People are vile man.

You park the car in a shitty area?

Yep, I have Progressive and had to pay nothing out of pocket when my car was hit in a parking lot. Ask around for a good bodyshop in your area. I've had the unfortunate experience dealing with a shitty one and the pleasure to deal with a great one. There's a big difference in their work.

Wow! That sucks man!!! Sorry. I'd take it to a professional detailer. Make sure its a good one too. Some "pros" can make things worse. See if they'd be able to fix the scratch. By the looks of the rest of the car it looks like it needs a good detailing anyways.

Yea..I know I should be ready to blow something or someone up right now...but S**T HAPPENS.

I can't do anything but get it fixed professionally. I will be taking it to the shop sometime this week. I got 3 estimates which vary from $850-1800. I just gotta fork over the $500 deductible (which I don't even have to spare). Insurance will cover my rental.

Maaco is by far the most reasonable but I'm not so sure about their service.

The Dealership's body shop of course is estimating a little over $1800.

So I'll make my decision later in 1-2 days.

Thanks to everyone for your input. This is really F****D UP. Hope this never happens again.

Just stay away from Maaco. Ever hear the term, 'you get what you pay for?' Yup. Applies here. And if you are paying a $500 deductible then take it to the dealer anyway. They'll do it right. Hell, they wanna sell you another car when you are done with that one!

This is sad... anyway... there could be worst... I see two possible ways to get it done. First take your keys and make identical pattern on opposite side. No... this is not good idea Seccond - get it done by professional paint shop. Good luck.

i got a friends car completely painted at maaco....they charged him $500 and he got what he paid for....after 2 years the paint is still good....will i do that to my car.....well if i just want to get a repaint, i would drop atleast $1K with maaco......

but if insurance is covering my ass and all i have to pay is $500, shit i would go some place expensive.....drop $3K-$5K get a professional job done and pay only $500....

who'd you piss off? lol Man that looks bad

After your paint job invest in some car care products and take better care of your vehicles exterior man.. I thought my car looked bad, but wow the rest of your paint looks like it was keyed by 30000 keys.

Given the TSX's paint quality, this could have been caused by a bug walking across the side of your car.

Sometimes a body shop will pay for your deductible too. Ask them and find out.
