TPMS Low Pressure
We all know when the weather gets cooler the tire pressures seem to go down. The TPMS system alerted me last night. It was at 28 and 29 all around for the four tires. As I was driving it did go up a bit to 30 for two tires and 29 for the others. Today the system was still alerting and I drove for about 45 mins and got them up to 30 and 31 psi. I thought that the system would automatically go off once the pressures are uniform. I also read on the Acura site that if the readings are 25% lower than the recommended pressures you would be alerted. I'm wondering if the system can detect something in the tire aside from the psi reading? I don't believe so but if someone knows please chime in.

no, as far as i know, it measures only the pressure. and it could take a bit of driving for the alert to go off. why not just add some air to your tires? specs are 33 cold. i'd put it at 33-34 now cause it'll go lower as temp drops more. its better to keep them a little underinflated for snow and ice as far as i know. helps traction

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I'll run up to Hess to get some free air. I have to do that every fall/winter. I was just wondering why it was staying on and showing one tire with the issue. I think it always does that though. In Florida we don't have to worry about snow and ice thankfully. We get down into the 30-40's some nights during the heart winter. We even see some 20's on rare nights. We haven't been that low yet but dropping night lows into the 50's from highs in the 80's the other day is a big difference for the tires.

On average you can loose 2-4psi for every 10 degrees in temp drop. The tpm sensor will only alert of low pressure and can't alert for anything in the tire. You always want to check the tires when they are cold to get the accurate pressure!

This happened my first night in Northern VA on Monday. I got raped by my nearest air-pump at $1.50 for 3psi.
My truck had TPMS but it never did this. My car supposedly came with nitrogen in the tires if that makes a difference.

Just paid .75 for air..guess that's a bargain...lol The free air at Hess of course has an issue with it. It took air out and did't put air in. The thing was pushing air out of the nozzle but the end must've been bent as it would not connect right to the valve stem on wheel.
