Thoughts on 2012 TSX purchase...

I'll be honest. I've been a huge fan of the second gen TSX since its release, but awaited a power boost (or even a diesel version) that never came to fruition.

I was excited for the V6, but lack of MTX made it a no-go for me. Nevertheless, I'm still a fan of the current gen.

Acura Canada in now offering a limited A-Spec edition, which is basically the USA Special Edition package except for different rims/tires, no trunk spoiler, and limited to black and white colour choices.

Issues:

1) Price: The package is $36k CDN plus pdi, which is alot of coin
2) The TSX model is due to be discontinued/redesign next year
3) Awaiting the 2013 Accord redesign, especially if available V6 6MT
4) ILX 2.4 6MT available for $30k, with many of the same features
5) ASpec package limited to 200 divided amongst colour and transmission, so there may only be a handful of white/6mt examples out there and I shouldn't delay....

Dunno if this is a should I buy question but you could just get a regular base MT TSX, probably for similar ILX - just not sure of the exact canadian spec for the ILX yet. Try both and see which you prefer. There is exactly zero chance of an MT Accord sedan in anything but base base model.

from what I have read, the 2013 MT accord will come with the 2.4 6 speed flavor. I would expect that they will offer it in the EX trim level, but EX-L people will haveta go over to acura like now.

Only the base SE 177hp accord is available in Canada at the moment with an MT. given the conspiracy (half joking) to get rid of manuals altogether very unlikely we'll see an EX ED MT.

As a fellow Canadian, who owns a 2012 TSX Tech 4 cylinder, you can't go wrong with this car. But having gone to the Acura premiere of Avengers and examined the ILX that was there, it sounds like the 6 speed would be your best choice for cost, power, etc. Interesting though that my TSX auto, a heavier car than the ILX, gets considerably better fuel economy with the same engine than the ILX 6 speed manual. 9.3 vs 9.8 city. Even with a manual, that's a little disappointing. I personally would go for the Tech once they drop the 2.4 auto option in there next year, as I suspect they will.
