Thinking about replacing front headlights

Anyone have any opinions on this? It uses the stock lighting, and adds CCFL halo rings, and the Audi LED strip, as well as having a black inside the casing, which i think would go well with my Milano Red.

http://www.dashzracing.com/09-11-acu...-hid-rf-a.html

Let me know what you think, and if this may be a good buy.

PS. i see a lot of sites with these exact type of lights, even ebay, (all prices varying) but no reviews, so am very hesitant that they may not be of a good quality, or have some defect. Plus the fact that i havent seen anyone on these forums with them.... makes me think its probably a no go.

But if you guys deem them to be any good, i would jump on them in a heartbeat!

If you want the halo and led strip then get it. But remember you will have some crappy low beams. The TSX has one of the best projectors around. You could always send them to someone so they can add halo and leds strips.

if you want the led strips and/or halos, send it to a headlight specialist and have them do it. those ebay ones and the ones on your link have shitty as fuck visibility and lights. a member on got something like that for their headlights and they reported it being uber bad. i think they said the leds were barely visible during the day and at night the lighted area was crappy.

there's a reason no one on these forums has these...they suck major donkey nuts.

btw welcome back. long time no post

I don't recommend these because a lot of them have bad light output and glare/bleeding all over the place.

used to think so....but they are not THAT great IMO. Not a sharp cutoff and don't seem to throw light very far and I've aimed mine up a bit. My 10 Prius projectors were better. I'd like to swap mine for a better projector lens.

Doing search on forum... will kick back with questions afterwards, but appreciate any feedback on who you guys have used for this. Maybe halo, but mainly R8'ish LED strips...

That can be solved with a clear TSX-R lens.

OP, don't use these headlights, they're not very good. Keep your OEM optics. If you want the halos and LED strip, you're better off installing them on your OEM headlights. Go to a reputable shop, or send them off to Lightwerkz, Cesar does great work.

Yeah i have already moved on. It was just a thought... i am though very interested in replicating the look from the youtube video done by the russians. Again, if there are any shops in NJ that people know are reputable, let me know.

Thanks

Dude, Lightwerkz is in NJ. They're renowned on the web for their quality work in retrofitting. Contact Cesar, let him know what you want, and get a quote.

so i just got off the phone with lightwerkz, and they do not do LED strips in the headlights. They said that they havent found anything of quality and reliable enough.

They do angel eyes, and painting the housing... but my primary desire was that nice led strip.

does anyone know of someone else who does this kind of work and backs it in NJ?

Thanks

:+1: Anyone played with LED strips to accent the headlights? Even just sticking them on the outside to see how they look/work?

Have seen the 24" 60 light LEDs on eBay... thought that would be long enough to cover top, inside and bottom of TSX light. Below is pic of Audi A7... wrapping the reverse... but idea, anyway...

That's the thing. Most of the available LED units out there that people are putting into their headlights are sensitive to heat, and they don't last. Cesar was correct in what he told you.

i prefer what was posted in the first video, but if its something that can't be professionally done and backed... then i will go with the halo's, and maybe black out the housing as well, and clear the headlights, and get switchbacks.

just need the $$$$

Yeah, skip the aftermarket LEDs. You'll end up being frustrated with them. I've seen plenty of people have a couple of LEDs go out in their strip, and it's ugly, and you either have to take them out or replace the whole strip. They're really sensitive to heat.

i have LOTs of halo experience.

and all the builders gaurantee the LEDs. they do NOT guarantee the labor involved in changing them when they fail.

just ask lightwerkz or any other lighting place if the halo has an external power supply....if not move ON/

the good rings nowadays have all the resistors external....caus e that is what fails in the heat.....not the LED.

haha, i will think about it for sure.

anyone know what's going on with v-led's website. I've been trying for the past 2 days, and cant access it. wanna check out their switchbacks - the triton v3 amber that i hear people talking about, and also see what they go for.

Anyone also know if darkening the housing whether paint or vinyl, affect visibility at all? i wouldn't think it would, but have to ask.

Visibility shouldn't change at all. As long as you don't wrap or paint the reflective parts behind the bulb you should be good!

few questions about the V3 Tritons... (now that the page is up)
1. Do these need resistors? if so which ones do i purchase?
2. I see people wanting clear reflectors as well for clear headlights? What is the purpose of them, or is it just for looks?
3. I see there are 6k and 5k (not in stock) tritons... is it only the white that is affected by the temperature, or also the amber?

Thanks

Yeah amber stays the same. From my experience 5k matches our headlights better. Yes you will need resistors.... Not quite sure which ones u will need though.

The bulb remains white at all time when the low beams are on, and only turns amber when you activate your turn signal.

I have the V3 Tritons switchbacks installed in my TSX headlights right now. They are terrific! I have clear corners as I bought a set of Depos. I went with the 5K and it is a nice pure white color without too much blue.
