Talked my girl into a TSX :D

Hey guy,

I own a 06 TL with Tech, I recently talked my girl into a TSX..

Long story short, before i introduced her to the TSX, she was thinking of a 335i or a 2013 Accord coupe v6. I talked her out of the BMW because she is planning to keep the car more than 5 years.

We went to the dealer on the 4th of July to test drive the TSX and she loves it!. She was iffy about the 4cyl and really wanted the V6 (she has a camry 4cyl) but after driving the 4cyl she was convinced that its strong enough for her. She also drove the ILX and she was about the power (although everything else is nice about it)...

Now here is the hard part. She wants the Bellanova White with Ebony interior, base model. There's only 1 of those in San Diego. The SE model is out of the picture (she doesn't like the red lighting). There's about 6 Bellanova White with the Tech package which is what I'm trying to talk her into because for the extra ~2k it comes with a lot of good stuff like the backup camera. She will not settle for anything other than White Exterior, Black Interior

We crunched the numbers and the dealer said that the base model TSX in white, they would have to trade with another dealer so they would only offer a $1,000 off of MSRP which was $29,100 before TTL. I laughed at him and said no thanks... So we talked about the Tech package and they would only knock off $2,500 off MSRP which would be around $30,600... we told them we are going to think about it and that we were in no rush to get a car. Ended up walking away.

so here is my question; When is the best deal to buy the 2012? September? We were kind of disappointed that they didn't add the pandora radio and talk to text technology in the 2013 tsx, so we are going to get the 2012 because its the same car. I was looking to get the TSX Tech for $31k or under OTD, so around $28,700+ TTL (7.75%). Do you guys think that is realistic?

Any input would help! thanks

$28,700 would be unrealistic in my neck of the woods, not sure about yours. I suggest going to truecar.com to see what others are paying in the San Diego area.

I'm selling my 2011 Tech PWP w/ Ebony interior for $30k out the door, see my sig. for details. Sorry for the shameless plug, but it just seems like such a good opportunity.

Edit: just did a truecar search for 92101, average is $31,878.

well, im sure since you walked out, they'll do better. idk how much better. they just announced the 2013 models, which should be in dealers by like sept? they are exactly the same, but still, in 5 years, its easier to sell a 2013 than a 2012. that means dealers are gonna need to clear their lots. if you can hold out, im sure you can get an amazing deal in about 20 days. on the other hand, if you want the 2013 for resale, talk the guy into ordering exactly what you want as your color combo, tell him you'll take it the day it comes off the truck, and that you know he'd love to have that 2 hour turn around time factor into how fast he moves cars off the lot =)

also, this entire forum would vouch for mr oto's car, its too clean. but it is modded. but it is the price and color combo you want

I got my base TSX brand new 2 years ago for 26,800. I would tell you to wait and negotiate at the end of the month but their is a good chance the rare exterior and interior combination your girlfriend wants might be gone.

I think you might be able to get close to 28,700+ TTL. Do you have many acura dealerships around you? You could try and get them to compete against each other, I've done this and it works wonders. You don't even need to go in, just call and tell them exactly what you want and ask for their best price. Then call another dealer and back and forth until you're happy. Also, I happen to think that this time of the year is one of the best to buy an Acura (just before new model comes out). Anyway, good luck!

also, for what it's worth, if your gf has an iPhone 4s, you can use siri to write/read texts through the bluetooth. You just have to press and hold the home button while connected to the cars bluetooth.

i think getting a tsx tech for under 31k OTD is unrealistic. factoring in tax of let's say 2k (too lazy to actually calculate it) you're looking at a base price of 29 or less for a tsx tech. if you could pull it off, take the deal and run. i don't think you'll be able to find a dealer who'll take that much of a hit though. but yea buy MrOto's car. he cleans and takes care of his car....take a look at his pictures. his car is better detailed and maintained than any car you'll find at a dealership. plus it's got some great small mods already included.

hey guys thanks for the replies,

Mroto - your car is def nice but she wants a brand new car.

rocket man- i told her i wouldnt mind paying the difference in price for tech package for her..

Live2hit- we have about ~5 acura dealerships in San Diego and about 10 more dealers an hour away in LA. I'll try the calling around to get the price bid with other dealers THANKS!

As of right now, ill be looking at ~$33k OTD without hard negotiating. I was thinking of a price of 31k OTD considering that if we buy in Sept, they would want to unload all the 2012 to make room for the 2013.. Plus they will probably offer 0.9% interest ...

again thanks for the responses

im pretty sure 0.9% interest is almost ALWAYS. and in case of this dealer, the tech package is half price at only $1500 vs $3K

The 2013 Accord Coupe V6 might be worth the wait. Totally new body style and I'm sure it will offer Pandora and the text features you're looking for. And it will definitely outperform a 4cylinder TSX.

Saw pics of the 2013 Accord and it looks badass. Might just trade my TSX in for one.

seriously? its the exact same style as the 8th Gen accord coupe? all they did was throw on some more chrome and chrome/LED out the foglight area.

get the tech and as far as SD dealers go, pit them against each other. Though they are very stubborn... but for $31k OTD, take it and run like stak said. You won't find lower in SoCal, especially SD and the 0.9% thing, just tell them you saw it on the TV even though you might not have. They run it so often that chances are they will just give it to you. That's what I did with mine.

Yes, seriously, pit the dealers against each other. Sit at home, grab a beer, then start emailing each dealer. Say "X dealer offered me this, can you beat it? If you can, I'll be down to sign the papers today" etc etc. If there are as many dealers down there as you say, then it should be easy.

It may resemble the 8th gen Accord but it is touted as a complete redesign. I guess we'll see this fall.

hey guys,

The 2013 Accord coupe is almost exactly like the current one, what a lazy redesign by Honda. The V6 vcm II with the 6spd auto sounds good tho.. but the thing is the coupe wont be offered in White on black... Its going to be white on tan/black mixed...

So after a long talk over lunch today, we decided to wait until september to get the 2012 tsx that the dealers will try to get rid of... I really hope we can get it for 31k OTD... keeping my fingers crossed... Over at the TL fourm, those guys are getting like 7k off MSRP.. Thats insane haha 33,800 before TTL for a Advance Package is nuts! haha

Thanks for your input guys

and YES... White car with black interior gets all the chicks!!! (how you think i got mine :p)

Don't expect to get a fire sale on the 2012's. Since there are no expected differences between the cars you're not going to see a big difference in price either.

In February, I got the same deal on a 2012 that I had negotiated on a "leftover" 2011 a month earlier - including the same trade in value on my BMW.

i don't know how the sales are but i know a couple months ago tsx were selling out more than the TL's so maybe that's why they were willing to knock up up to 7k on the TL. honestly i wouldn't expect that kind of price reduction on a tsx.
