Taking delivery today
The wifey will be over at the dealership around 10:30 this morning to trade in her 13yo Civic for a 2009 CU2,Tech, CBP with Parchment interior.
We decided that the new '11 was just more than we wanted to take on, and we found this '09 in great condition, spotless interior, with 40k on the clock. Service all done locally with no blemishes on the history report.
There are a few surface scratches on the hood above the emblem, as well as some abrasions on the left fender. I talked the dealer into a full touch-up and detail as part of the purchase. They said that they cannot get it back to new without a complete re-spray, but that the scratches and swirls would be noticeably better than they are now.
The wife is pretty stoked, finally, and the price was $2-3k lower than any other '09 we could find with similar miles, which made me pretty happy.
Can't wait to officially join the family later today!

Welcome aboard, m8!
1. How much you made for the 13yo Civic trade-in?
Last time when I traded in my '89 Prelude in 2003, they paid me $100.
2. Scratches. Don't bother. After only 4 months, scratches were all over my TSX no matter how careful I take it.

Thanks!
Somewhere around $1750 for the Civic. This dealer is an AutoTrader buy back location, so they honor the online quote if the dealer's assessment isn't higher. AutoTrader said $1849. I'm pretty happy with that. The Civic has 164k on it.
I'm with you on the scratches, but why not try to get them to make the car looking better right? I figured it was a shot in the dark when I asked, and they were more than willing to go over the entire car. I'm pretty happy with their willingness. We'll have to wait and see what the outcome is.

It should definintely look better after the full detail. We had a similar situation when we bought our 2008 RDX, minor scrapes and blemishes on the driver side door. After the dealer did a full detail, it looked great! I'm surprised these dealers don't do this from the get go. I guess they're trying to save money and hope that the potential buyer will buy it as is? If anything, you'd think it would deter potential buyers.
Also, it might be worthwhile to look into a clear bra. I kind of wished I had done so with my CBP...
Anyway, welcome to the family!

The clear bra is not a bad idea at all. I need to find someone here in Richmond that applies it so that I can find a quote.
I'm contemplating tint for this one. The dealer has a company that does it and they had a '11 TL that just sold and they set up the tint. It looked really good. The wife thinks the tint looks "ghetto"...she's also thinks a lifted truck looks "ghetto" so her judgment is a little off

tint is a must on the CBP. I think VA law is 50 front, 35 back. I went with 35 front and 35 back. Looks better, and I've never had any trouble with the law. 50 almost looks as if there's no tint at all.

Papers signed. '09 is at the body shop for the full detail. Wife is on her way to the grocery store in an '11 loaner. I talked them into giving us a loaner instead of the wife driving the Civic anymore today. Made the most sense since we transfered the title, etc.
Pictures to come soon!

it's a car-drive it
congrats-Since this is your wife's car she should get what she wants on it. Same thing goes for my car. I am very happy without having extra tints and I live on the coast of NC. We live in an area where street lights are rare and the streets do get dark at night.

Good point! She's not nearly the car nut that I am. However, she does complain at times when the sun is beating on the leather and she gets inside in a skirt or shorts. So what's a husband to do? I can't bear putting a seat cover on that pretty Parchment leather. So my next thought was tint.
We take delivery around 6pm. The body shop has finished up the detail work. She's very excited!!

Just under $23k before tt&t's. Can't remember the otd figure mainly because of the trade and cash down.
Hmm funny that you mention rear brakes. We have about 8 miles on it since delivery and right as we pulled into the house I heard a squeal. Something (sounds like an indicator strip) is emitting from the left rear. Called the salesman but service was closed. I'll be dropping it off in the morning to have them examine the rear. Wife isn't too please, understandably so.
So tell me, what were the issues with the rear brakes in 2009. I remember hearing something...and I will go search now. Please enlighten me.
EDIT: I know of the premature wear on the rear pads. Anything else I should know? The squeal happens at speed after you hit a bump/abnormality in the road (like a bad manhole cover), and sometimes will only squeal for 5 seconds...at times longer. It eventually goes away, but comes back.

Yeah yeah yeah. Pictures will come as soon as the car is out of service. Took it in for the brake squeal and get this, it actually squealed in the service bay. That never happens. Also having them look at the front door speakers as the output seems distorted.
The wife is pretty bummed that her "new" car is in for service, but shit happens right? Better now while under warranty, and new enough to where they shouldn't charge me for anything they do today. We have all of 15 miles on the car since we took delivery last night.
For the time being, here's the Civic we traded:

UPDATE:
Good news. Just got a call from the service advisor. The car was traded into their sister dealership, which is BMW. The BMW techs did the 150 point inspection, but apparently are not in the know about the premature inside pad wear. Service Advisor said that if the Acura techs did the inspection the car would have received a full rear-end brake job prior to being put on the preowned lot. So at no cost to us, the car is getting new rear pads and turned rotors.
Also, both door speakers are being replaced under warranty.
They are also going to go over the car head to toe to look for anything else the BMW techs may have overlooked. That gives me good peace of mind.
So I'm pretty happy that this dealership is taking care of us today. All in all they have been exceptional. We'll have the car back this afternoon.
Pictures of the wifey's new ride to follow later today.

I have a sun screen I put up on the front windshield when I go to the beach. I also open the windows as I am walking back to the car. I have ebony interior and put a towel down on the seat sometimes. Seat covers are not suggested with the side airbags.

I had a black 1st Gen TSX and loved how it looked but didn't like the bugs on it here in FL. Also lots of road work does it's damage. I got the Paladium Silver this time around but still see black 2nd Gens and they look really good. I still like the black color. That car looks really clean. Congrats and welcome to one of the best cars on the road today.

Thanks fellas. The interior is near spotless. One small smudge on the passenger side rear seat cushion.
The paint had a few blemishes. Mainly a few small scratches just above the emblem, on the hood, and one abrasion on the left fender. They touched them up with some black paint, so it's barely noticeable from within 2-3 feet, but it's far less noticeable than the bare scratches.
I hope that she'll get as much use from the TSX as she did out of the Civic. I'm pretty happy about it because we now don't have to take the truck for every road trip (best tank in 11,000 miles was 16.8 mpg hwy).

So 4 days into ownership and we could not be happier.
Things I've noticed:
- CBP is a beeotch to keep clean. Love it clean, but the wife slayed a large group of bugs on the way home the other night. Looks like I'll be washing it weekly if not more
- The wheels are shockingly easy to keep clean. It helps that I use a little bit of 3M quick wax on them once they're clean. Helps with future clean ups.
- I now want a backup cam for my truck. I have sensors on the beast, but the cam in the TSX is very useful.
- Parchment interior is not that hot afterall. The wife is pleased with this.
- Mileage is pretty good. The guys at the dealership beat on it a little (6 mile trip ~ MID said 9.2mpg). I also beat on it some...love hearing VTech kick in...and she's gotten 200 miles on the first half tank in 50/50 driving around town.
Pretty happy thus far.
Thanks to everyone for lending congrats, advice, etc. So nice to have another forum to go to for information.
