Squeak, rattles, other quality issues?
Just wondering how the build quality is on the 2nd Gen overall, especially late-build examples (MY2012, 2013).
The changes made to the 2014 Volvo S60 are appealing, so I would cross shop it with the TSX.
However, the S60 forums are filled with complaints about squeaks, rattles, electrical issues...
How is the TSX as far as that goes? Anything consistently annoying "little" things that are characteristic of the car? Doesn't seem like it, but I thought I would ask and be sure..

I cannot really think of anything... I've had mine since Dec. 08...

I've had mine for a bit over a year and 30k miles and have no squeaks to speak of. There was an annoying buzz from the driver's side grab handle that was fixed by attaching a cut down kitchen cabinet door bumper to the handle.

I Spit On You.
Had mine since 47K, 76K now and no problems... Only thing you'll run into is that Acura makes crap batteries but their free or you can go aftermarket, not a big problem.

clunking ball joint mainly in summer temps.
moon roof leaking
headliner rattle (after moon roof leak was fixed)
rear suspension noise
drive shaft causing steering wheel vibration (according to some members)
bad paint with lots of overspray and bad finish specially in black with pearls
creaking dash over rough surfaced roads, over bridge joints, concrete surface hwy
i have cross shopped a 2013 s60 when shopping for mine. im wishing i went with the S60. i dont know about s60's reliability, but tsx's build quality is not good from what i experienced for the past 3 - 4 months of ownership. i have also experienced the worst dealership experience with warranty works with the TSX. few member here say its just me, but im sure i am not the only one with experiencing this with acura and its dealerships when it comes to warranty works being accepted and done right. i wish i had paid the extra couple of grand more and went with the s60.
S60 > TSX because...
much more refined car overall specially the ride comfort and handling
better cushioned & supported seats
much more sturdy car structure feel
better leather surface seats
smoother drive train
MUCH more available HP & TQ
better options for tuning
longer warranty
free maintenance for 5 yrs
better paint quality (look and feel)
better more dependable brake feel
better more up to date transmission
i personally suggest you test out each multiple times but honestly unless the TSX has the "cannot turn down" or "unbeatable" deal, you should keep the S60 on top.

I have had my TSX for nearly a year and no rattles or squeaks. Paint is prerfict fit and finish the same. Tsx might be dated in someways but would recommend to anyone looking to buy as Tsx enters into last year of production . JMO

Burning Brakes
I have a rattle in the drivers seat belt height adjuster that shows up every few months. I just move the height up and down and it goes away for another 3-4 months.

my issues are/were
-sunglass holder rattle from flip down door (common)
-cupholder vibration when cup or bottle in there
-click front end when switching from D to R or R to D (very common)
-CD player just jammed w CD in it
That said, overall very pleased with vehicle 27K miles later. Dealership experiences every 5k have been good to great, mostly great. Plan to keep way over 100K

I use the 18oz Hydroflasks and have never had a rattle there.

Again with the rattling stuff in the cup holders... and my homelink garage door opener thing rattles like hell with the slightest bass... from the STOCK system.
Other than that, I'm pretty happy with it

No complaints. Not even the cupholder. Best car I've owned. Zero anxiety unlike my previous/current cars...Volvo v70, Maxima, Passat, GTI, Envoy, 325i, Jetta, Trailblazer SS. I've Volvos before and all three have had head gasket issues. Is this a Volvo thing?

However, the pillars have the occasional rattle which is kind of annoying when you're cruising with windows closed and music off. It comes and goes, so of course when I bring it into the dealer, they hear nothing.
Other than the lack of rear LED lights, I don't have much to complain about the TSX

I would also add, though not squeaks or rattle category, the storage area around driver is lacking and poorly designed. Some days it bugs me a lot, but most days only a little.
The armrest console is tiny imo, and the glovebox sucks ass. Small and you cant even open it w/o all the contents falling all over the place. I've resorted to keeping almost everything in 3-4 plastic bags in there.
A few years back i had an audi a4 on a 2 year lease. That thing had a DRAWER underneath seat. Brilliant!

TSX build quality is EXTREMELY nice, inside and out. It has a different feel and material quality to it than most other Acura's, that already are nice to begin with.
I've never yet been in a 2009+ TSX with any rattles, except for one where the windshield moldings came loose.
In my 5 TSX demo's over the past 2 years, 1 or 2 the sunglass holder has made a tick or 2, but that's it.

Mine is great but there are rattles from the rear deck and sunglasses holder when i turn up the music. That's the only problem i've encountered though.

Burning Brakes
Minor rattle/buzz coming from the glove compartment occasionally, but not enough to bother me. Owned my 2011 wagon since it had about 40 miles on it, IIRC, and now up to 20,000+. No issues whatsoever. IMO, it's a great car for the price.
