Speakers for 09 TSX Tech.

I want to replace the speakers in my car. The shop suggested this setup.

Alpine Type R seperates in the front doors just like factory.

Alpine Type R seperates in the rear doors with the driver in the door and the tweeter in the rear deck where the 5.25 is now. So I would be loosing the 5.25 in the rear deck.

Kicker 8" sub in factory location with box built accross the length of the rear deck. The Nav system would be flush mounted in the same eclosure as the sub.

One amp to run the sub and one amp to run all the other speakers. Or one amp to run everything.

What do you guys/gals think?

I do like it but I already blew one of my speakers. So how long before I blow anothe one.....and again, and again, and again. I don't listen to my music very loud. Volume control is usually no higher then 20. Most times it's sits at around 15ish. My bass is set at +2 as is my sub. Everything else is set at "C". Poor quality speakers irritate me.

Yeah I have the same problem with the blown speakers...I am replacing/upgrading all my speakers to Memphis Audio, removing the factory sub, and replacing it with two Kenwood 12's-since I removing the sub, I will have a "port" through the rear deck.

I don't know much about the quality of Alpine, but I have been very pleased with Memphis Audio in the past-(in my TL)

Yes and they will replace it under warranty. But how long until I blow another one...If this had happened on my way to Utah, I would have been pissed and it would have been a shity road trip. No thanks. It's time to destress, not create it.

Let us know how the install goes and how the speakers sound. I just blew my rear driver-side door speaker and am considering replacing a few as well. Maybe just the front and back doors for now. I'll see if that makes a difference and build from there.

I blew both front speakers and the speakers have been on backorder for a month now. I'm about to say screw it, and just buy new speakers ad install myself.

Probably 6.5" but I am not sure, that's usually the size Honda uses in the front.

For those who are blowing speakers, is it usually the door speakers? Anyone have problems with the subwoofer? Does the dealer have a reason for why so many people have speaker problems?

I am hoping Honda might have a better speaker replacement than the OEM speakers, especially since so many people are having problems. I noticed a crackle sound on some MP3 songs I play from the iPod, but I think it's the song quality. When I listen to XM is super clear.

Those who blow the speakers, do you mostly listen to MP3s ?

Funny. I call Acura today to see what the status of my speaker was and they told me the same thing. Backorder. This is not an isolated problem and it sounds like the car has crummy drivers in the doors. They will probably keep blowing unless Honda racals them.

That said I'm going aftermarket. What's a good brand. I was thinking Ifinity Kappa 6.1 but I have no idea how much they are. What brand experience do we have on the Forum?

Anyone know what brand Honda uses? I know they use Alpine for some of the audio like the Navigation unit, but which speakers do they use in the ELS system?

I believe the ELS unit is a Panasonic. I would assume the speakers are made by them.

On another note, my dealer had no problem getting me a speaker next day for my Tech when I blew a door one.

Also looking to upgrade my 09 TSX Tech

It's just not loud enough for me and there doesn't seem to be enough bass either. Just yanked my Alpines out of my totaled Accord so I'll probably use those and I also have a 4way Alpine amp, too. I'll still need to get a sub and an amp as well. I'm just so nervous about messing up the ELS stereo? I had my new Accord in the audio shop 7 times and they could never get it right. Is there any way to still utilize the current amp that's in the car - maybe for the sub by itself?

If anyone has had any success with this, I would SO appreciate any advice you have.

Thanks so much!
