Settle on 2013 TSX?

SO..
I've been paying on cars for a long time and now that I have a house and been married for 5 years i thought perhaps my next car should be my last, FOR A WHILE.
when the lease on my 2010 tsx v6 is over, i will be trading it in for the latest and greatest tsx v6 which apparently will have:
-cleared out headlights
-"jdm" bumper and front/kit
-rear vents(big deal)
and im sure other little goodies..like a few more hp? who knows.
i really wanted to do more mods to my current car like exhaust but its a no-go because its a lease. i would say hell with it and do mods but then when i trade it in im f***d cause u cant do those mods on a leased vehicle.

russel, have a chat with your dealership, the guy who sold it to you. more likely then not, as long as you dont mess with the engine, they are cool with it because its easier for them to jack up the price a bit. as long as all mods are legal obviously. just know that you will get no residual added for the trade in at the end for the mods. i have tints and led's so far, and im just finishing up changing my fogs to 6000k HID and my low beams to 6000k bulbs. thats all i intend to do and my lease is up in a little under 2 years. i doubt my dealership will mind any of those.

Russel you should be find as long as its a catback exhaust. Simple bolt-ons are reversible. Anywho if you do all the work to the car and decide you like it, just buy it after the lease is up. Simple things like tint and HID bulbs are easy to remove. As long as your not messing with the motor (internally) or the ECU, you'll be a-ok.

BTW where'd you get the info on the '13 TSX? Isn't there suppose to be a new redesigned TL and TSX around that time anyway or is it 2014? I'm expecting that yr to be the year for both the redesigned TSX & TL. I'm still holding out for the TSX i want. BTW you like your V6? Wish it was offered with a 6spd. 4cyl is more than enough for me, especially with 6 gears.

On;y thing the 2013 could do for me is: 1) SHAWD 2) Cooling seats, and 3) twin turbos on the V6.

FWIW the dealership has no say in whether you get charged at the end of the lease. Honda and Acura have an independent inspector come out and do the inspection. You can mod the hell out of it if you want, you just need to bring it back to stock before the end of lease inspection. It's definitely a PITA to do but you can sell your mod parts in the black market to recoup some of the costs.

If you want to get technical, you aren't allowed to modify a car you are financing either (read the fine print on your contract), you don't own it until you have paid it off and have the title in hand. Up to that point, you are modding the banks car not yours it's no different than with the lease.

As for internal engine mods, the lease inspector is not taking you engine apart to see if you put a cam in it. You'd be more likely to be charged for worn out tires than you would be for ECU or internal engine mods.

Wishful thinking, but not true. If they want to certify the car, it needs to have it's OEM parts. Modified cars have lower values than OEM cars as they typically mean the car was driven harder and the dealership can't stand behind it 100% because they can't stand behind the quality of the modded parts. The market for pre modded cars is weak at the dealership, the only people who will pay you more for a modded car is someone who intended to mod it as well, that is typically a private party type of sale.

how much power does a custom catback really add? ive heard lots especialy with cai but i thought that was for mandrel bent exhaust not crush bent.

i looove my v6! i dont mind not having a 6sp, i got tired of it in my 05 rsx-s, always always having to shift, downshift, etc. it made the drive more stressful although fun too but having an auto 280hp v6 with option to use paddles is just fine with me.

i didnt hear about the '13 tsx i just looked at the new body style and headlights on the euro version and figured it would make its way here by 2013.

I'm sure with a catback you can easily free up at least 10-20HP/LB-FT. You'd get an aggressive sound too, depending on the product. There's alot of variables too. A lot of people also throw in a CAI. You usually see that with a catback, on lightly modded cars. You'd have to look online. With popular cars, it's easy to see the improvements posted on the site itself. You can always look up Hondas, Acuras, quite a few domestics i.e. trucks/muscle cars.

And those figures are somewhat conservative. Maybe some others can chime in if they have a lightly modded civic/accord/tsx/TL/RSX, something along those lines.

I can see why a 6spd can get tiresome in traffic. It's not congested here in the panhandle like it is down south.

Why not wait till the 2013 TSX comes out and then decide? Seems a little premature to me.

I agree. The 2014 tsx is probably when the new model comes out. Wait to see what that looks like and what is has to offer.

CB exhausts don't really add HP, their gains are minute. however on forced induction engines, upgraded exhaust actually add quite a bit of power (ie acura RDX). but for a v6 tsx why would you want to mod it? i mean its 280 horsepower and its as fast a say Benz C350 which is much more expensive...i think thats plenty of power. What i would mod if i were you would be suspensions, brakes, lights, tints. your car is already fast in a straight line just make it handle better...if you want faster straight line only thing that would help would be a supercharger.
