Replacing Hi-Beam/DRL Bulbs

I've seen threads on replacing the fog lights, but nothing on replacing the hi-beam/DRL bulbs. I know that the DRL is the high beam on 1/2 voltage, so does anyone know if there will be a problem with replacing with non-OEM bulbs?

I was thinking of replacing with PIAA bulbs, as I was real happy with the result on replacing the "fog" lights on my 3G TL.

Does anyone have any experience with replacing these bulbs in general?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Good question! I would love to know!

And actually...I would like to replace the high beams with a bulb that doesn't have day time running lights. I hate these things!

actually i ordered bulbs from nokya to replace them a couple of weeks ago thinking that it was the h1 bulb. but since i didn't read the owners manual, i ordered the wrong one. put them in my sister's 1G TSX, my old ride. The bulb type is H3B something. ill be doing that soon.

Kowloon:

I'm glad you told me the H1 will not work b/c I was about to order some (The PIAA website lists the H1 as the correct bulb).

Do you know the proper bulb size? I briefly looked in the manual but did not see any sizes listed.

I'm thinking of trying the swap just to get rid of the orange/yellow look from the DRLs.

Bulbs

I have just taken delivery of a 2009 and made sure I took the PIAA bulbs out of the 2005 I had. Big difference in light color. The originals are very yellow. You'll be very please to change them out.

I have the original PIAA box at home, so I'll check out the number tonight and get back to you.

PIAA...Sorry

Well, the bad news is the PIAA H1 do not fit the 2009 TSX. I have no idea what the bulb is but the base is shaped differently and the bulb itself seems a bit bigger. We tried!!

TOO BAD!

Great. I am ordering a set of the PIAA Intense White (4100K) bulbs today. I will post pics of the split comparison as well as the before and after. It is supposed to be more of a pure white, so hopefully this will look good at the reduced voltage of the DRLs.

funny

why is HB3 so important? It's just 9006.
