Rear clunk slow speed over bumps, etc
I have this clunk (more like a rattle) that appears to be common when I go over bumps at slow speeds.
I have been pulling my hair out (what little is left) trying to fix this problem because I thought it was something I did during my Progress rear sway bar install, but I guess it is a known issue.
My question is, how do I know if it is the rear package self or the body/frame/jack points that are causing it? From what I have read it seems like very similar noises.

Three Wheelin'
There a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) on this, the dealer should be able to fix it.
TSB 09-019: (2009-2010 TSX) Popping or Clicking from the Left Rear or Right Rear Jack Point

Yeah, I have seen the TSB (both of them), its just that I am trying to make sure that is it before I travel to the dealer and possibly waste my time and theirs. Its an hour+ away.
I have checked all the sway bar stuff and everything looks fine, redid all my bolts and still have the problem so it MUST be the jack points or package shelf. But I am really baffled how that could cause the type of metal on metal clunking I am hearing. I am also leery of the dealer seeing the aftermarket sway bar, assuming it must be from that and not even investigating further.

Summer is Coming
I realize you are 2G owners but .... I replace the stock RSB on my 1G. Two problems, as the weather got colder the grease on the bushings tended to make the bar rub as the car went over speed bumps etc. No grease fittings so it is a pain to grease them.
2nd problem was that the mounting for the bushings was not up to the stress of the new bar. Over time it cracked the bracket and it made a rubbing/grinding noise over speed bumps, driveway entries etc. The solution was to take it to a suspension shop and they welded it up and it has been fine ever sense.
Putting the stiffer bar on the back end can have consequences if the car was not designed for it. It may not fail immediately, but the added constant stress on the 1G cracked many mounting brackets, mine was only one of them.

Well its not related to any TSB - definitely sway bar related.
I removed the sway bar brackets and zip tied the bar into place so it would not move around and hit he undercarriage or exhaust.
Drove around my normal route where I heard the clunks - NO clunks.
Put the brackets back on, lubed up the bushings (but only with wd40, no grease - yet), bolted it all on and drove again. Clunk is back.
Next step is to disconnect the endlinks and see what happens. God I HATE those damn allen wrench ends on those bolts though.

FIXED! I removed and reattached the endlink bolts that attach it to the bar.
I noticed that the way I had pivoted the link when I put it on had sort of made it bound it up in a weird position. It was at an angle where with slight movement up and down (over small bumps for instance) there was metal on metal contact between the link and the end of the sway bar. I put it in a more vertical position and reattached to the 2nd hole instead of first.
Sound is gone and the endlink can no pivot as necessary.
Maybe this should be moved to a different forum? Suspension or Modifications?
Thanks for the "help" and letting me track my progress.
