Purchasing new 2010 TSX
Purchasing new 2010 TSX
Experts,
I am getting ready to finalize a new deal on the 2010 TSX 4 cylinder with tech package. The price quoted is 30.3K inclusive of administrative fee and inclusive of splash guards, wheel locks, trunk tray and all season mats. What do you guys think of the price?
Thanks.

I think you can get about $1000 off the price. I paid $29,200 for TSX 4 cylinder with tech in northern California in September. The Costco car no-hassle price program (which my dealer participated in) quoted $28,911 for TSX 4-cylinder with technology package.
Check out the new owner sign in part of this website for 2nd gen TSX owners to get a sense of what people are paying - the prices I see there are about $500-1000 less than the price you're quoting (although maybe not including admin fees and all the accessories you're getting). Many people get the wheels locks and one additional accessory thrown in (splash guards, trunk tray, mats - either all season or regular) for free. You should give us the price of the car without the admin fee which can vary from state to state and dealer to dealer.

Is this the tech package? What is the exact wording of those fees on the invoice.
lots of fees are total BS. The will quote you a low ball price and stick all kinds of fees that are bogus just to trick you.
ie: Employee catering admin fee, dealer fee, etc..

I'd like to remind those that are at all concerned about price..... try not to be. Even an extra grand is only a little over 3% on a $30K deal. Plus.... in a couple of years you won't remember (and won't care) what kind of deal you got anyway. As long as you're happy with your car, and the deal..... enjoy.

i don't think you're getting a good deal for those accessories. you need to think about whether you need them, and then think about how much you're willing to pay for them. i've heard of a lot of people getting their all weather mats and trunk mats for free when purchasing a new car, i would be looking for a deep discount on those accessories if i were you, at least half what they quoted you.
$775 for accessories you have it is too much. check this http://www.acura.com/Accessories.asp...cId=TSX0010100 under package section. Regardless it won't cost you $775. e.g. Package 1: All-Season Floor Mats + Trunk Tray + Wheel Locks = $301 + Splash Guards ($145) = $446. $775-$446=$329 ---Labors?

When I negotiated my wifes automobile I walked away feigning insult etc.. and as I was walking out they begged me to come back and were more than willing to work the price to where I had it in my mind. Its like playing poker almost.
Its worth it and its fun in its own way

Thanks for all the responses. I checked with the dealer again. Here is the clarification. The 30.3 is the final price with all accessories quoted. If I dont want the accessories, the price is 29.8. Essentially 500 dollars for the accessories! Does this make it any better. I have pretty much the same price from another dealer in the city. I plan to pick up the TSX this week!
Your price overall is a good deal. It is below invoice and right about at the average market price if you believe Truecar. The accessories are a little pricey. You could save a few dollars by buying them yourself and installing them, but it is purely convenience. If you are willing to spend a small small percentage of the overall price on the car to get the accessories delivered with the car then that is your choice. I wouldn't sweat it. It is a good deal. Enjoy your new car!
price is subjective....if you feel you are getting a good deal, you are getting a good deal!
I also get free oil changes for the life of my car - definitely a nice perk.
Enjoy your car - you are going to be thrilled when you pick it up!! I've had mine for almost 5 weeks and am absolutely lovin' it. As I was flying home last night, I couldn't help but smile from ear to ear just from the sheer fun of driving it

I love the comments by FLYGUY31, maybe because they jibe with my own feelings on this topic.
It's an assumption to think that $1000 is chump change for everyone who purchases a TSX as implied by Simba. Yes, it's only 3% of the total price of the car, but it's still a large amount of money for many people and a lot of money that could be spend on much better things, like a college fund for your kid or a great vacation for your family that will produce great memories forever (please excuse the corny examples) or maybe just a large TV for your living room.
I wouldn't spend that much money on accessories - I got the wheel locks and the standard floor mats for free without even asking (I don't think the all season mats look that great, but I don't really need them where I live - no snow). You can definitely get them much cheaper online. I paid $80 for the trunk tray, and you could probably get the splash guards and all-season mats for cheap, too.
Of course, convenience and your time are not to be ignored - how much is your time worth haggling over a couple hundred bucks, perusing websites, etc?

I guess the reason I feel this way is because I'm a professional negotiator by trade..so I'm always looking for the deal. I did a ton of research before I bought my car (I totalled my 04 TL) and played two dealers against each other, and it was the end of the month and both dealers showed their hands by telling me they didn't have a good June and weren't hitting their quotes. I was in the driver seat, literally..BTW..I went to Riv. Maya in Mexico, 4 nights, 5 days, all inclusive, beautiful hotel, beautiful travel companion..total cost for myself...$1002....well worth the extra time and effort to get a good price on a car...Happy driving..
