Purchasing a 2012 TSX SE
Graduating from nursing school in August, and I'm going to buy a '12 TSX Special Edition around November. I'm pretty sure I want the Milano Red.. but I'm just not convinced. I definitely want the SE, but I'm torn between the 4 colors. I've had my heart set on the red for months now, and I'm afraid if I get any other color I'll be unhappy with it later on. But to me the tail lights blend in too much with the Milano Red paint, and I'm not crazy about that. I really wish they would add Vortex Blue to the SE line-up. Any thoughts? Do any of you own an SE in Milano Red? Thanks in advance!

Red SE looks awesome, but it's just too visible for me. Silver Moon looks great and blends in well, that's what I ended up with. Black is nice but tough to keep clean, and white is awesome too.
I'd probably go Silver > White > Black > Red, but it's a personal preference. Again, I do think the red looks absolutely awesome, I just can't pull it off.

That's true. The upkeep on the red paint would be irritating. There's something about the silver moon that looks extra sharp to me. How long have you had yours? Did it live up to your expectations? This will be my first major purchase so I'm a little nervous.

I've had it since June 8th. I absolutely love the car, my family is very happy with it as well. It is very comfortable, rides nice, handles well, gets decent mileage and is a blast to drive. I'm at almost 2,000 miles, no regrets so far.

While I think you've made the best decision on the TSX, November is a looonnngg time away. You will probably change your mind about 10x regarding which car to get. I know I did. We were all set to buy an Outbak Limited after 1year of thinking thats the car we will buy. Then I stopped by an Acura store 2 miles from home while riding my mountain bike. That's all she wrote. Bough our wagon 2 days later.

Im with TSXkid2010, there is something about a Red TSX that doesnt work. The sliver tsx looks clean. Black is the best, but the upkeep sucks brick. (i have black).

love my vortex blue. i also wish it came in an SE because as my lease ends, i want another one, but i can't get VBP and 6MT... pisses me off. i've seen the red, its nice, but idk. the silver definitely works. i will always thing white is a girls color. my SE choice would be silver/red>black>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>white

i'm with pyro on this one. for some reason i will always think of a white car as a girls car. my SE choice would be silver/red>black>white. the red sticks out like a sore thumb so if you like attention, go for it. the silver is absolutely amazing. there's another member here with a silver moon tsx...his pics make me wet.

Given the huge shield and the amount of chrome, I feel like the Bellanova White and Silver Moon work better on the 2G TSX body as opposed to the darker colors. Of course, I am slightly biased towards lighter colored cars right now since they are easier to take care of too.
That said, the Milano Red is exclusive to the SE so it would be a much rarer color to have.

Ideally, I wanted the graphite, but that wasn't available on the SE, and I definitely wanted stick. So, of the 4 colors, I liked them all, but I had to be somewhat practical, too: my car lives outside and is a highway commuter. Since I already own a black car and am all too familiar with how hard it is to keep it looking clean, that ruled black and white out right away for me, both for the same reasons. I think the silver looks very nice, but there are so many silver cars on the road... I just wanted something with a little more "pop" to it. So, that left me with red. I've never owned a really red car before (I've had a wine colored one), so I figured I'd just go for it. No regrets; it looks great, and it's not a pain to keep clean. I think it sets off the visual styling of the car quite well, and contrasts nicely with the wheels and bright parts (trim, exhaust, etc). Plus, it's only available on the SE, so that makes it feel a little bit more special to me. It has really grown on me in the couple of months I've had the car.
Still, graphite would've been my first choice, followed by the Vortex Blue. That color is fantastic, but I was coming out of a bright blue car, so I wanted a little change.

it's a car-drive it
Personally I am a big fan of the Milano red-It gets washed and detailed on a regular basis. I still get compliments on how nice it looks despite the numerous chips thanks to driving on 95 from NC to NJ and back often.

Ugh, yes! That looks so hot.
gonzo08452- It is a long time away.. I always plan far ahead for anything I do. Idk why, I just always have. And yeah I'm extremely indecisive. I have a difficult time picking where I want to eat dinner, so I'm definitely going to struggle with choosing the car I'm going to be driving for quite a while and spending so much on.
TSXkid & timberlinhvo- I agree that the red doesn't look quite as professional. The silver does look pretty sweet. I think part of the reason I'm set on the red is because when I went to the dealership, I test drove the red SE. So, I have somewhat of an attachment to it. But my current car is orange, so on the other hand I want to get away from the red side of the color spectrum, and go for something that looks more classy.
Pyrodave & mrstak - Like I said above, I have a bright orange car now (2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse), so I'm definitely a fan of the attention and the awe factor. Haha.
CGTSX2004, Kretop, & nj2pa2nc - Ever since they redesigned the TSX for the 2009 MY, I had hoped that they would offer it in milano red like the 1st gen. So I was stoked when I heard about the SE. And I like the more aggressive styling features on the interior & exterior. I've only seen 1 of the milano red on the street. But I see a lot of the graphite, black, and white.

And another thing I wanted to ask.. The sticker price of the one I drove was a little over $31K. I'm hoping I can talk them down to about 28K, and then once I have that locked in, I'm going to throw in the money from my trade and the down payment.
Has anyone managed to lock in a deal at that price? Or better? Hopefully since it will be close to the end of the year I can get a good deal.

Everyday I'm rofling
Get black and wash it all the time like I do mine. Paint matched grille looks really good with black.
Second choice would be white. Third red. Fourth silver. Silver is way too common, and I hate common things.

While very few have reported around the price you want, there's no way that was happening for me. You're assuming the car and color you want will even still be available at that time, which it may not. The difference between invoice and sticker on Acuras, and the TSX in particular, seems to be a lot thinner than it is with other cars. Your goal is 2K below invoice... good luck with that.
I got mine at invoice and, according to Edmunds and Truecar, that was listed as a "great deal" by both for my neck of the woods. I was happy with the deal.

i got white. there's just something about a white honda with a black and red interior with a 6MT that appeals to me. 2nd that on silver being too common. i can never own a silver car.

Check out the "2nd Gen check in" thread to see what people paid. Lots of us have already listed it there.

Okay. I'll check that thread. And thanks for the input. If they don't have a new SE on the lot at the particular time, the salesman said that they could have one from another dealership swapped out.
If worst comes to worst, I'll get a certified one and save a little money. So, I'm looking at it as a win/win either way! I would definitely prefer to buy it brand new though.

The red definitely does look good... I wouldn't be able to pull it off, though. I'm more of a low-key guy, and the red is, albeit beautiful, very eye-catching.

Pyro, bottom heavy? I'm not sure what you mean ... because of the skirts?
nj2pa2nc, I didn't notice until you said something. Thanks a lot!

you know how when you see a pic of something, and it has really light colors on the bottom, and dark on top? makes you feel like the top is heavy and gonna tip over or somethin metaphorically? i reversed it because i couldn't think of any other way to describe it. it just doesn't mesh well. its like a black car with white wheels

Hope this can help you decide:
My MR TSX SE on BC COILOVERS.
Love the car, love the color. My preference when buying the SE was RED/White , Silver, then black. Hope you decide the right one.

silver > white > black > red...red does look off. I think the Milano red is such a close shade of red to the rear taillights that it washes out the entire rear end of the car. A burgundy pearl color would have been much more appropiate by Acura/Honda.

And that's my only reserve about getting the milano red. The tail lights are probably my favorite styling feature on the TSX. Although, I think that the photos overexaggerate how washed-out it looks. Much better in person. And the front is pure perfection.
