No, these will be laser cut out of clear acrylic, the decision to forgo metal was based on several factors

1) it would be near impossible to get the metal to look OEM and match the rears

2) cost goes up a ton, and complexity afaik, metal has different tolerances and the fine areas which require cutting would need to be cut with a laser as the typical waterjet cut might not do the job

I've done a ton of research into getting these done from metal, it was my original intention to have the existing sills simply modified to have the acura lettering cut out of them (how easy would that be?)

I actually had them sent out in january but due to the hardness of the metal (stainless steel apparently) they cant be cut with a CNC and would need a laser to cut them so i was shit out of luck. Even the 3g Supercomputer sills are just an open square with a clear piece of laser cut acrylic which is backlit. This is another option. If these look like shit then this winter I will create the sills in that style.

3) Cost. There are very few people who are willing to help you out or do any work for a small scale project like this, a lot of work for a company and very little profit unless I am ordering like 4000 pieces. If i got into laser cutting and shit for metal it would be out of my price range

4) Its easy bro

Heres what they are gonna be cut out of:

The price for the acrylic is very reasonable and within my price range, and the people at this company have been VERY helpful in getting a final design ready for machine work

I have no idea if this will work out of if they will look good/bad but hey lets see what happens

Got in touch with the lighting company too... That shit is expensive but lets do that too

Last mini hurdle will just be figuring out what wires to tap on both sides in the wiring bundle that runs underneath the door sills

A forum hero sent me some wiring diagrams (not gonna lie, they still confuse the poo out of me) and when i place the order for this stuff and receive my lighting components i guess ill suck it up and figure out how to top the courtesy door lights OR the rear dome light (may go with blutsx ultra ghetto method if i have to...hey...it works)

Acura for me as well. Do you have a price range yet on these? I remember seeing a group buy for something like these on the 3G TL's and I think they also had instructions on how to connect them. Did you take a look at those KG? I can try to find the thread for you.

Yeah ive been through that thread and the other 1G TSX thread where the guy builds his own, ill be connecting them in the exact same way, just a matter of figuring out the correct color wire, im guessing i could do it in a day once i actually try

As far as price goes, i have a good idea now what a set will cost (for the lighting units, sills, and cf vinyl) but i wont be vending these or anything, so if the end product comes out nice and anyones interested in replicating my process ill lend them a hand in getting the right stuff

I might be one of those people if it isn't too hard to do

And yes, I'm sticking with my initial decision, ACURA!!

Sills are overlaid in CF vinyl and have been cut to the perfect size, my gf has experience working with small objects (Oooohh Self Burn!) so she was kind enough to exacto everything for me

The lighting units (the most expensive part of the project) are made to order so they are on a 2 week turnaround, the wait is almost over though they are scheduled to ship on August 1

When im done for anyone who likes the end product and is interested ill do a writeup and give you all the details to get the same parts

this looks sweet! i think "acura" was the right choice. looking forward to the final outcome, and what the final cost and parts used were.

Awesome work. Now I want these dammit! Acura logo for me, or my own company logo?

This reminds me of some "show car" mods I saw a few years back.
