P0420

Hi all,

I was scanning my car for any code with my OBD tool and I got a pending code for P0420 Catalytic converter system, Bank 1 efficiency below threshold.

I dont have any check engine light and the car drives and get great MPG. Is this sign the O2 sensor going bad? I know the Bank 2 sensor means the CAT is not working as it should and most likely the CAT is bad..

I searched the form and almost all with the code was trying to replace the Catalyic converter . The car passed smog Oct 2020 so just trying to figure out what I need to be ready for

I scanned my wife's Toyota Highlander and a friends Nissan and both had the same message so wondering if something else with the scanner or software.

Thanks

Thanks

*UPDATE*

I purchased Motorkote Catalytic & Exhaust treatment after about half tank 200 plus miles The pending code for "P0420 Catalytic converter system, Bank 1 efficiency below threshold" is gone.

I read the reviews and it all had
positive feedback on Amazon.
