opening up the fog vents; retrofit fog lights

i had a couple other mods in mind when i took the bumper off for the icebox. I had some mini projector fogs I wanted to retrofit into the housings. these have a nice cutoff line and are less than 2". i used them before.

but when i got the 12 fog out I can see why the cheapest AFTERMARKET one i can find is 70+ dollars. It has the aiming just like a headlight built into the fog housing. so if i chop it up as planned I would lose ability to aim.....no bueno/ to be continued..........

NEXT:

if you look at the rear of the bumper below in the last pic you can next to the fog there is a scoop type thing covering the fog grille area.

what would happen if I removed that scoop and dremel out the area between the grille blades, put some real nice black mesh over it, and get some fresh air in that way.

no air can come through it now so I WONDER WHY THE SCOOP THING IS EVEN THERE ??????

the center grille is wide open so whats a little more air?

anyone see anything wrong with this?

the back of the fog

the fog with the projector

here is rear of bumper with light installed

fog removed

here is where it gets interesting.

oh yeah i almost forgot.......i bought some lamin-x for the fogs as my wagon has about 2500 miles on it and there are chips and scratches already. i got the 40MIL vs the standard 10MIL. clear.

Do the fogs get so hot that they did the scoop for cooling? Or maybe it has to do with the V6... I read somewhere that the V6 has additional cooling for the engine.

the scoop if it were catching air, would push it towards the middle so it isnt to cool the fogs. right now it does nothing that I can tell.

i believe you can just straight swap the lower grille with v6 to get that scoop.

i researched before and thought about doing it.

its open so air gets in? 11+v6?

casue remember the 11+ is different;
our fogs are different. yours dont aim internally like ours.

im gonna search for pics and check the parts sites

Here is the best picture I could get with the bumper still on. Old pictures I have from behind the bumper the fogs aren't quite in the frame.

i got the v6 fog vents. man for 35 bucks each delivered you get a lot of part LOL

they are the exact fit. for the drivers side I want to remove that scoop that diverts air to the center JUST on one side.

ALSO I colormatched the fog shroud.........should I now colormatch these grilles?
