Oil change for low usage
Oil change for low usage
Due to a move and then the virus, I haven't driven much over the past year compared to previous years. Honestly, it was easy to get used to urban living where any short walk has you passing by every store you need lol.
The dashboard's oil change % is down to ~25-30% and IIRC, it tells you to change at 15%. It's been 7-8k miles since the last change at the stealership so that % sounds about right. However, the last change was about 2 years ago.
Do you guys consider age-of-oil at all, or just use the dashboard % / miles when deciding when to change?

oil needs to be changed yearly esp if its non-pure synthetic like those sold at local stores. Oil becomes acidic over time and can pit/corrode surfaces over long periods of time. Use something that is FULL synthetic such as Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, Amsoil, etc, will easily last 2-3 years with little driving.
