No Changes for 2013 TSX

This posted at Acrua...

http://www.acuranews.com/channels/ac...change-summary

"2013 Acura TSX

The Acura TSX received a mid-cycle refresh in 2011, which included changes to exterior styling, significantly improved NVH, a wide array of new standard and optional features and an all-new variant: the TSX Sport Wagon.
In 2012, the TSX Special Edition was introduced with numerous upgrades to exterior styling, celebrating Acura’s fun-to-drive spirit and 25 year history as a luxury brand in America.
In 2012, the TSX line up continues to be one of Acura’s most popular sedans thanks to a great mix of styling, sporty performance, luxury appointments, good fuel efficiency and outstanding value on a luxury scale.
The 2013 TSX sedan and Sport Wagon will go on sale in fall 2012 and will have no changes to the lineup. "

But no news on the "TLX"

People were predicting that there wasn't going to be a 2013 TSX. I suspect that gonzo was making fun of the doom and gloom pundits out there.

They may not want to affect 2013 sales by talking about a replacement this early. In the case of the RL there is not much downside to talking about its replacement. They are not selling anyway.

and if they do improve upon it, it just may confirm the fact that it is the better buy vs the ILX

Unless, of course, the price increases so much that it is not, in fact, a better buy than the ILX.

I'm guessing the new TLX will be similar in marketing to the ILX. They will have a 4cyl, 6cyl and maybe a hybrid version and the price will range accordingly up through TL range today. But we can take the hint from the ILX that the price will be moving up. So if you want a 4cyl you don't need to buy the TSX, you'll get the 'entry' level TLX. If you want performance you get the 6cyl. I hope they don't dumb down the 4cyl in favor of having all the bells and whistles on the 6cyl. That would piss me off.

Well let's hope they don't repeat that mistake. I think they were trying to get some separation from the TSX with that move but maybe once the TLX is out they will offer the 2.4 with the tech package. Just guessing. Maybe even.. with a AT? Or CVT?

The key point is they start selling 2013 in fall. so it is pretty late. In EU there will be no new Euro Accord untill 2014. so if they are producing current version minimun two more years than i dont think we would see TLX soon.

I dont see the tsx leaving. Each size car Acura has, every other brand already had before Acura. For comparison purposes:BMW ACURA MB1-series ISX A-class3-series TSX C-class5-series TLX E-class7-series RLX S-classAll of acuras current models now match up with a model its competitor has. For this reason I see no model going anywhere. Now the packaging of the models may change and thats about it.

Tsx

Does anyone know for sure if they are keeping the TSX for 2013?
The ILX pricing is so damn close it scares me a bit.
I still think our TSXs will maintain their beauty as is over the years.

The first post in this tread is from Acura saying exactly when the 2013 TSX will go on sale....

Knowing this, if I were in the market for a TSX, I'd definitely get a '12. There's just something about the #13 that doesn't sit well with me.

If a TLX is in the works, Acura should be showing a concept at the Auto Shows right about now, if they follow their typical MO. Maybe this is a nascent TLX:

It kind of reminds me of an Accord in that front angle shot, but I like where they're going with the design.

As for ILX, TSX, TLX, RDX, RLX, R2D2, C3PO, I wish I could say they were just letters, but I can't keep them sorted in my head!

Consumer Reports had an interesting take on the ILX. They write (and I agree) that the 2013 ILX is what the Civic should have been:

^Interesting read. The fifth paragraph says it all: "... To us, the TSX seems like a better deal."

For sure. I've never understood (and still don't) how Honda can think they're going to move a $30K Civic. There is really nothing to justify spending that kind of money on this car. Mediocre mileage figures, 5 speed AT, cloth interior, 150 hp.... the list goes on. There are just way too many nicer, better equipped, and cheaper cars out there.

There are places in the world that actually doesn't have a 13th or 4th floor. They skip those #s. Now 666...

shoot I'd be looking @ the fully loaded Sonatas, 11' Altima, perhaps even a KIA Optima rather than an ILX

More specific to 2013's, trim levels will be the same but a few color updates.

-Milano Red offered on base/Tech TSX's, with Parchment leather only
-Basque Red no longer offered
-Taupe interior now instead called Graystone
-Forged Silver remains

Otherwise, the same car & equipment.

This makes sense to me that this will be the platform for the TLX. It also has the curve over the rear wheel which is similar to the ILX.

Agreed, I came from a 2008 Honda Civic EX Coupe before I bought an Acura. Don't get me wrong though, I loved my Civic. It was my baby sort of speak until I traded it in. But I looked at an ILX when I purchased the TSX and never looked back. The salesman asked if I was interested in the ILX and I said not really and he understood as he was the one who originally took my Civic trade in months ago. He told me while the ILX is a beautiful car, it doesn't necessarily fill the role of the TSX replacement in his opinion.

Glad to see a 2013 is coming. I got my 2012 but I love the TSX as much as the next guy.
