Newly installed Viper alarm/starter
Just had a Viper alarm/starter installed in the '11 TSX. Best Buy was my installer of choice and while some may shy from that I can tell you the BB techs in Framingham kick ass. The installer took great care of the car, installed everything cleanly and walked me through the system when I went to go pick the car up.
A few things I found about the Viper system (5701 in my case), for those curious.
- The Viper installs over the OEM alarm so you still get its features (battery disconnect, radio protection)
- Optional accessories for Glass and Tilt sensors (adding both)
- 2-way mode tells you if the car is locked and what the temp is.
- You now get a louder "chirp" when disarming/alarming and a double "chirp" when arming.
- You can silently arm/disarm the alarm when needed (at home etc..)
- The remote is about the same height as the 2011 Switchblade key, but half the thickness.
- The range is 2000 ft, roughly
- Has a "car finder" option
There are more options/functions available of course, but just wanted to touch on the most important parts.
If I experience any problems i'll be sure to update this post, but so far all is good. Oh, for those curious the 5701 cost (with installation) about $600. In my case I put to good use some RewardZone coupons and gift card.
Thanks,
Matt

Only tried it at home, but it chirps the alarm once and flashes the parking lights 10 times I believe. Or with the 2K range you could just "panic" the alarm lol.

Okay this is weird but an issue started today. The alarm is not locking properly and chirping the remote as if their is a fault being thrown. However when I ask the car it returns locked status no matter what. Going to bring it in tomorrow but just wanted to give a heads up to those interested.
I'll update once I figure out the issue.

Not using the iPhone app just yet, may get it though.
Just got back from Best Buy, turns out the Viper alarm issue was my fault. I somehow enabled "Valet Mode" though I have no clue how. Anyways, all is working.

It was about $650 (plus an additional $70 for tilt/audio sensor) installed. I had Best Buy install it since their tech was MECP Platinum or Gold, don't remember. He was great to work with and explained everything perfectly.
A little pricey technically, but the OEM remote starter (no alarm) is roughly $800 so it was a go for me. The 2-way start/alarming is pretty nice, especially when you are unsure if your car started. Its also nice to confirm the car is locked when you already entered the mall or building.
Overall I like it.

@007Acura - Too funny, your video was actually a pretty substantial factor in my ultimate purchase of the 5701. I liked the button layout and multiple features. Thanks for that!
