New RJ Sport Design Wheel concept! (updated 3D!

Ok, so it's time again. New wheel time!

Acura has a bunch of new wheels for the new TL, but RonJon Sport Design will be pushing the envelope as well. Here's the scoop:

-19" x 8.5" with a 40mm offset. Flat face profile for BBK clearance and High relative offset.

-20" x 8.5" with a 40mm offset. Flat face profile for BBK clearance and High relative offset.

-20" x 8.5" with a 40mm offset. Concave face profile for dramatic appearance and drop center.

-pentagon centercap
-Low pressure cast One piece construction
-$345 each for 19" and $415 each for 20"
-TPMS compatibility
-64.1mm hubcentric centerbore , Acura and Honda specific.

Starting development this month for spring release in 2009. Right now its in concept phase and I'll be posting pics of the development along the way. What do you guys think??
I think the name will be Sentinel or Revive

You might be right. I like them because they are so different than whats out there. They might be suited for the style Acura is headed in, but I have to make sure they are a hit first.

I'm on the fence, I like the design, but seeing them in sketches and in pictures are totally different things. But defiantly matches the new style that acura is going after.

Is the inner slots actual negative space or would it be painted black?

If its painted then no ,and id Loose the penta-star center cap.

I must agree that these are not my cup of tea either. They look much better just by themselves on the diagram itself, but once they are on the car, it is way over the top. Sorry, just trying to be honest...

It doesn't look bad overall, just it doesn't fit this car. It looks like a Dodge wheel, like something you could put on the new challenger or on something like that. /shrug

I think they go great with Acura's new styling direction, but they aren't the type of design I would buy.

Yeah, agreed here as well.

I know the H/A community holds you in high regard for your dedication, production, quality and hub-centric design, but I have to agree they look a little 'busy' IMHO.

The 2nd one is MUCH better. The first is far too blocky for my taste. The first one might look better on an SUV, but even that I'm not sure about.

I personally think they both look good, the first on looks good with the new TL, it matches the body lines and the overall futuristic theme.

that is a complicated rim right there.
but... very nice.

if you need to give away a set for testing, I'm your man!

can we see them cropped on a car or two?
and specs you plan to run with them?

same price as the Inspyre and Legend $345 each for 19" and $415 each for 20".

Specs will be the following:

19" x 8.5" with a 5 x 114.3 PCD and a 64.1 centerbore in two offsets.
38mm and 50mm, both should have the same Big Brake caliper clearance as the Legend

20" x 8.5" with a 5 x 114.3 PCD and a 64.1 centerbore one offset.
38mm, This wheel does not need the Big Brake caliper clearance but should have the face as drop center as possible.

about mid 2009 we'll be adding the 20" x 8.5" with the flat face for the BBK clearance application in a 38mm offset and a 52mm offset.

the 19x8.5x+50 should be able to fit on a first gen TSX as well.

if you make a few crops Rondog, will you make one on a first gen TSX as well?

Do you think you'll ever make an 18" option? If I were to buy a 2G, I might go up to 18", but not 19".

the 'final' design looks sick!!! if you offered them in 18" i would very seriously consider those when i do pick up some rims.

Nice!

Tasteful, elegant, easy to clean. Good work!

I don't know about 20's, personally, but I would do no smaller than 19's, unless the tire prices are exponentially higher and extremely limited choices in tires. Otherwise, I *might* consider 20's.

With all the new cars having 19" and 18" from the factory like the new TL, new TSX and new RL, we were planning on offering the 20" from the debut. But with most of the requests leaning towards 18" and 19", we added the 18" x 8.5" with the 52 offset to the debut. 20" will come later in the beginning of 2009.

So I got the 3D from the factory, but I had to made some slight cosmetic adjustments. The coolest feature is this machined surface on the inner lip behind the spokes as shown in the semi-teaser. More to come when the factory gets back to me. I am really excited, I think this is going to be the best wheel yet, and I'm adding the 20" version to production immediately. So 18" x 8.5", 19" x 8.5" and 20" x 8.5" are all being made!

check it:
