new exhaust option!!

sup guys...our own shady_cu2 went to megan racing facility to test fit a exhaust prototype

quote from shady:

"Just putting the hooks on now, this is not what the final product will look like.
They will be making it with a thicker/wider muffler"

Round mufflers ftl. I've had a Megan Racing exhaust on a Subaru, and while it was great for the money (heavy though), it was way too loud with the silencer out, even though it had a resonator.

I've yet to hear a exhaust that sounded good on a 4cyl.
They all sound like fart cans.

Def not the sound I'm goin for.

If someone would make a deep rumble, I'd be in.
I don't think that's possible though. Lol

i think the sound produced will be different though. the one shady has right now are the n1 style ones. the one from the amazon link is a whole different muffler.

n1 style please god no i had the oe style one for my 350z and it was not loud was a little louder than stock not loud at all. and 4 bangers can sound good my integra with HKS exhaust was deep as hell sucks they wont make one or have a universal oval muffler. i would be down if it was oval mufflers for sure there products are amazing the welds are much better than some exhaust shops that do it for a living gotta love robots.

You've pretty much hit it dead on. I'd rather hear the stock exhaust than what's out there for 4 cyl. engines. You just can't make a 4 cyl. sound like my ex Mustang GT's! Ain't gonna happen!! Be nice if it could.

I just noticed that Acura changed the exhaust tips on the TSX vs the old trumpet ones they used to have. Thank goodness!! I like rolled tips with a slight angle cut. I looked at mine yesterday in the dealer lot....and thought, whew, I don't have to change them! Don't know when Acura made the design change. I'm sure you guys know.

I had already done some research on what was out there in the style I liked, but, now I won't have to change them. They are good. Each to their own...I know. Some will say they could be larger in diam. but, you have to take a step back, and see what truly looks right and fits in with the style and design of the rear end of your....uhhhhh TSX!!!

I doubt you'd gain power with a larger straight through mufflers alone. Header -- sure. Weight reduction is one thing to consider I guess, lighter exhausts are nice.

As far as 4-banger never sounding mean -- my Subaru sounded just plain scary lol. I got sick of the rumble though and switched to an EL header (delayed spool, but gained power) -- considered a sin by most Subaru owners, but wtf do they know lol.

i am interested in the performance aspect......dont want noise.

but I have to pass E test as well as visual inspection. hence nervous of the RV6 downpipe.

is it worth it to have some pipe bent and add some mufflers maybe like the MagnFlow that a few already have......

or just get the magnaflow and leave the pipe.

or what else can be done. I have an AWESOME shop right near here but I just dont want NOISE or DRONE.

or is that just adding COST and no PERFORMANCE REWARD????

Yeah the V6 is pretty quiet. Removing the resonator hardly made a difference, if any. Sounds pretty nice in the cabin when you floor it though. I would also be interested in something G35ish or slightly deeper without being obnoxiously loud or raspy.

^ that titanium tip made me jizz in my pants. Whereas the Megan fart cans made my peenz run and hide.

Regarding the sound if you're looking for a particular sound like 350/370 exhaust tone youre gunna be let down. Our lovely little 4banger motor makes a different noise.

And performance wise: in some cases bolts-ons can actually take away hp. I havent crunched the numbers but I'm assuming there is a optimal back pressure for k24z3...

Can y'all get a video of the Megan exhaust?!?

Thats what i was thinkin too. However my best friends dad (he used to work for borla) said gains can typically be seen at common bottle-neck areas in modern cars, where exhaust gases are re-routed (ie header/cats). anyone confirm the exhaust diam in inches?
