My friends painted STOCK rims.
about a month ago, my friend got his 2010 tsx's rims painted. blacked out, with a chrome tip. he got it done for 120. what do you guys think?

not bad, but i woudlnt spend 120 on stock rims. i rather save it for something aftermarket, or some suspension lol. if i were to paint stock rims, i'd just DIY it with plastic dip so i can peel it later if i dont like it haha

Yeah, got to agree with this sentiment (especially here in the Northeast). Plus, the next guy might not like them (like me). I would have put the money toward some aftermarket wheels, but hey, to each their own.

The lip looks really uneven. I would have painted them black completely. You can also tell that they painted them while still on the car...look at the holes for the lugs, they are not completely painted. Just some over spray.
Like others have said, I wonder how long it'll last.

you can still see that the inside of the lug nut wells is not painted and that the lugs are painted so that means whoever did the job was lazy, half ass job not worth the money IMO. with a drop and a complete paint job and mabey some black lug nuts would look better.

looks cool from 10 feet away but up close that lip is fucked up

did he paint the rims without even taking the wheels off the car? just put garbage bags behind the wheels and spray bomb it? Center caps and lugs are black too! interesting...i think stock looks better. our wheels dont have a good look for painting, they are too un-sporty

I noticed the ghetto trash bags, and not taking the wheels off too.
From the pictures it looks like that's where the job was done? Out of a van in the middle of a parking lot under some tents?
I'm not feeling it at all, my two cents.

Not feeling it, but if the owner likes it and it fit his budget...
hmmm, speaking of budget...how much is a can of Rustoleum and a tent? If I charge $120 per car and do 4-5 cars on a Saturday, I can pay off my mortagage a whole lot quicker.

One 10x10' tent could run you as little at $60 at Wally World.
Some 3M blue painters tape and some trash bags = $15
I wonder if the "painter" went as far as to scuff/key the wheels prior to paint? What about degreasing, and removing all existing brake dust, etc? If not, I don't see this paint job lasting more than a few hundred miles. I'm gonna step out on a limb here and say that since he was too lazy to even remove the wheels from the car that there's no way in hell he/she even attempted any of this.
Furthermore, I love the "FX4 Off Road" decals on the 2wd E-class van. Same decals that came stock on my F150. Funny.
EDIT: Was reading the OP's post and just caught this "blacked out, with a chrome tip". I'll ignore the "tip" part...as long as she doesn't...but chrome? Where? Those wheels were factory painted, not chrome.

If you're gonna do it right, use VHT wheel paint at least = $8 a can. Maybe 2 cans per car = $16

I think I can get a case of Krazy glue and a heat lamp and do windshield chip repairs as well. Sort of one stop shopping under the big top.
