Mobile 1 synthetic ep 5/30

I can't seem to find any 5/20 but 5/30 is readily available. What effect if any is this going to have on the car?

I don't think it will have a discernible effect. Some people have said it may affect MPG.

Acura recommends 5w-20 for our cars but when I looked at my first oil change receipt from the dealership, they put in 5w-30.

When I was looking for Mobil 5w-20, I had a hard time as well. Finally found some at Kragen, but it took some leg work.

I was able to get Mobil1 or Castrol Syntec 5-20 at Walmart with no issues. 22 bucks a gallon.

Auto Zone has the regular 5/20, 5/20 EP and Mobil1 filters.

Thicker viscosity would be something one would do when the car has significantly high mileage, like 175,000+. When the tolerances get larger from wear, thicker oil can help regain oil pressure loss from the wear.

We don't have Auto Zone in the great white north. Guess I will have to go to Walmart.

It totally makes sense that the dealer would use 5/30 as a general purpose oil. I bet that is why between me changing to M1 and using the correct weight for once, is why my car felt so much stronger.

One of the reasons I like M1. If I'm in Two Egg, FLA and need a quart, Wally Mart is bound to have it.
