letting others drive your 6MT

Inevitably, letting 1st timers drive it will abuse it a bit.
Mechanic, dealer, valet, mover, etc.

Is the damage limited to the clutch, with getting it replaced as the solution, or is the damage more widespread?

My friend's Accord smoked when he started it after getting it transported by a mover last year. Not sure what the remedy was.

Most of the time, these individuals drive them in a parking situation, so not much damage is done, I'd assume...

you've never driven a manual transmission?

1st gear is the absolutely hardest gear to get the concept of.
a lot of times, 1st gear is where people burn up clutches!

depends on what is broken...
it could be isolated to just the clutch, but who knows as your story isnt really concrete.

I used to just ease off the clutch until it's in gear and stationary, then jab the gas like an auto. Is this wrong? I know it wasn't efficient, but it didn't stall at least!!!

^no, i'm saying...1st gear is the gear people tend to burn up clutches in.
every car is different, and the novice driver will have to learn on the fly where the engagement point is.

Go 1/2 throttle, then, dump the clutch fast. That's whst they're doing wrong right?
