laminx

has anybody installed laminx in your head/tail/fog lights? ive used them on my black a4 and they look great. just need an opinion on which color combination looks great on my palladium metallic:

1. clear headlights / yellow fogs
2. yellow headlights / yellow fogs
3. clear headlights / blue fogs
4. gunsmoke headlights / yellow fogs
5. gunsmoke headlights / blue fogs

or if anybody has them already on a palladium metallic, pls post some pics

thank you

Laminx is laminated protective film for all sorts of screen, lights , etc. Check out lamin-x.com for more details. They already have precut films for our cars.

I'll probably get the gunsmoke headlights and yellow fog lights option

I used Laminx to tint the tails on my old R18. Really easy to apply. I recommend buying it in bulk by size then cutting to the size you need. Some time the precut stuff fits so "just right", that if you are off in the slightest bit, it wont look right.

I bought my clear ones a year ago and they were exact fit over the fogs. Don't remember if they were oval or not - just dry-fit them and see if you need to trim them a bit.
I remember that the ones I bought for the wife's car's fogs were not the right size and I had to trim them.

oh no, i only lamix-ed my fogs hence the yellowness of it. took me a good 15 minutes to apply only because the cut wasnt perfect. it was actually far too big so i had to trim it down. but i like how it makes my 3000k HIDs look even more yellow, although u cant tell in that pic.

will have a better pic when the weather clears up

Can I just laminx my fogs without putting in new bulbs. I want the yellow tint, but don't want to go through all the hassle of switching the bulbs out..will it look ok??

I have a black wagon. Should I clear my headlights then do gunsmoke headlights, blue or gunsmoke fogs and gunsmoke taillights.

A couple members here have yellow tint on their foglights, take a look if you like the look, as for light output I'm thinking that with a normal halogen bulb it wont be as "yellow" when its on compared to any1 who put Nokya's or 3000k HID's

Depends on the theme or look you are going with your car. I have seen the 2011 Mazdaspeed3 in red with yellow tint headlights...looks like a dragon it's all personal preference

I think the gunsmoke look would look good, especially since I plan to tint my windows.

I have light smoke laminx on my heads and fogs.
Red vinyl overlay on my tails (much cheaper).

I wouldn't try to install the headlights myself.
I looked at the 4 pieces and knew it was out of my league.
Great stuff though. Very durable.

i have the yellow laminx on my fog lights, with the original halogen bulbs. I wanted yellow fogs without having to deal with yellow bulbs. Overall i think it turned out great. I also did the laminx because my fogs were already cracked badly from rock chips. Everytime it rained or I washed the car the fogs would fill with condensation. So far the moisture is reduced but my driver side fog is pretty much beyond repair and the laminx is holding it all together.

At a later point in time I will consider replacing them but for now as long as they are still lighting up I dont really feel it is justified. Ill try to upload some pictures once I complete my brake job.

i have the 40mil clear lamin-x on my fogs......

it works fine but I did notice that if you remove your fog you better put it back in the EXACT same place or else the laminx might not line up. they cut it so you can mount it with the bumper ON. but part of the lens is covered by the trim. i took my trim off to paint it and i didnt fit it back exact and the laminx is not in the exact center anymore.

a pic

I dont see why you would ever want pre-cut clear/tinted vinyl for any of your lights. It stretches a lot (maybe not so much the 40mil like ^) and changes shape with the heat. I feel like it would be way easier to just lay a big sheet over it, and trim the excess, like what they do when wrapping body panels. There is no way I could have gotten a pre-cut piece to fit my taillights when I did them.

Someone enlighten me.

maybe cause anything GOOD is not cheap by the sheet.

http://www.csctextiles.com/Strata.htm

I did expect that they would send a piece that covered the WHOLE LENS but then you would need to remove the fog to install it. MOST PEOPLE will not do that.

I have it on my fogs. I rarely use my fogs so I don't have any melting issues.
