Just bought the GTC01s

Decided to break down and pick up a set of the Enkei GTC01s. Thanks in part to MrOtocinclus and others praising them. The rim is forged, but still relatively lightweight (20lbs). I opted for 18"s due to the horrible frost heaves and potholes around here. I'll wait to see if i'll need springs/coils, but again the roads suck around here!!

I was going to buy it from TireRack.com but instead asked Town Fair Tire to price match, and they did. Still a pretty penny for those rims, but i'm excited. They should be here soon and once they're on i'll shoot some photos.

This past month has been crazy for modding, but i'm so happy. Thanks to my AZ buddies, specifically ecko508, MrOtocinclus and 09ACURATSX for all the helpful information.

Thanks,
Matt

So I got word that my rims/tires FINALLY came in today and have an install time set for Monday. Of course its now been 3 weeks and i'm just "get it done already".

Here is the wheels in box, on the car soon.

@09ACURATSX - Nope, in the process of launching a new company!

Those are the Ultra high perf all seasons right? I think a buddy of mine had the same ones on his scion and now he's looking to switch up his current tires for these as well.

@mrstak - Yah, rated for light snow though. I think they have a "V" speed rating, I can check though.

@MrOtocinclus - I agree.

Got the car back last night, looks amaaazing! Overall i've been pleased with the help over at Town Fair Tire, especially Nick at the Natick store. It took about 10 days to get the wheels in stock and another 7 days for tires since they were both special ordered. The hub centering rings, center caps and lugs were FREE.

Anyways, here they are:

18" GTC01s with AVID ENVigor 235/45R18

Total photo composition fail, rain and cold will do that

Close-ups on the TSX with DYI painted calipers

Yokohoma AVID ENVigor 235/45R18

Photos really don't do these rims justice. Oh and to those curious, the CBP/GTC01 combo is awesome.

Thanks,
Matt

Looks great, I like the wheel and tire combination. How does the Yokohama's handle in the rain?

Calipers on front/back painted and "Acura" decals added. Ecko508 is def my goto installer/mod-guy and buddy of mine.

Seeing as all it's been is rain I can comfortably say they handle well. I took some ramps and turns on route 9 at about 50-60mph (on the entrance) and not a slip. I did see the traction system light turn on but didn't feel it. I can't wait to get these wheels on the open and dry road, then I'll really get to see.

Thanks,
Matt

I like it, there's a great contrast between the CBP and the "hyper black" of the wheels. Any plans for a drop? I have to admit it's weird looking at these wheels on this car without a drop, but that's probably just because I see them every day.

Also, how wide are the wheels? Did you feel any improvement in the steering?

Lastly, I just took a closer look at the wheel, in particular the valve stem. You should have 2 of the silver caps, but it looks like one of them is black? Or is that just the lighting in the photo?

I was thinking of a drop, but with pothole and varying road heights in the great state of "Taxachusetts" I feel a drop is not a good route, for right now at least.

Pretty sure the width is 8.5, though it may be 8.0, i'll have to check and see on the work order from Town Fair Tire. Haven't been able to really drive the car to notice improvements but i'm sure there will be some.

I just looked at the valve stems and it looks like they used the caps from the other rims, probably while swapping the TMPS sensors over. When I bring it in today for the "25 mile lug check" i'll ask them what happened to the chrome ones. Especially since now i've been informed of it.

Thanks,
Matt

Oh, I could've sworn you were talking about the great state of "Cali-fornicate with your maid and then make Terminator 4 and then pay $75 to fill up your TSX-ia".

Leave Sperminator alone

FYI- At $1.519 a litre for Premium last week in BC, that's $5.75 a gallon or $106 for fill up here in the North.
