Just bought an 09 TSX Tech 6MT Today
This is my second Acura. Had an 02 Arctic Blue RSX Type S when it first came out, traded that in for an 05 EVO VIII, which was traded in for a Honda Pilot V6 Navi. Now the wife is driving that, because of our new baby, and I traded her 04 Solara in for a Black w/ Ebony 6MT, which I pick up on Tuesday.
A couple quick questions.
Is the front license plate holder drilled into the bumper, or is it installed similar to the RSX which were installed on a bracket? Really didn't pay attention to the license plate holder when I bought it... :p
Second, I am looking at rims, and really don't understand the whole concept of offset. I read in another thread that these cars have a +55 offset.
I'm looking at 18x8.5 Axis Black Super Hiros and wondering if these might fit with a +35 offset. Also wondering if 8.5 inch wheels would be a bit much on this car. :p

Please help!
Thanks!!!

I think the offset means that the +55mm stock wheels sit flush with the fender flares if your looking top to bottom..so a +35mm offset would be the wheel is actually sitting inside a little bit...which is probably necessary for a bigger wheel if im finnaly understanding offsets...

If you'd like, here's the real quick on offsets.
Think about a wheel in front of you where you're looking at the barrel where the tire goes. To your right is the face or outside of the wheel, to your left, the inside of the wheel.
If you were to make an imaginary centerline down the center of the barrel, and the mounting surface of the wheel were located there, it would be a 0 offset wheel. If it's a 17x8 then the wheel would stick under the car starting from the hub (mounting surface) 4" and outward from the hub 4".
If it's a + offset, like the +55 you mentioned, the interior of the mounting surface of the wheel moves outwards (relative to it being mounted on the car) pushing more of the wheel under the car.
If it were a - offset, the mounting surface would move inwards (also relative to it being mounted on the car) pushing the barrel outwards (a deep dish or reverse offset). Negative offset wheels aren't worth mentioning for these apps, but just trying to offer some info to assist the OP.
Most wheel manufacturers offer fitments for width, offset and tire recommendations based on a correct fit for the car. There may be other options, but if you want a guaranteed fit, you'd probably be best off with what's listed for your app.
Hope that helps.

It's my understanding it is an expression of mm +/ - from centerline.
So if that's correct, the inside would lose the .8" and the outside would gain it.
If the stock wheel was a 17x8 +55 and you tried to mount a 17x8 +35 the latter would stick out that 20mm, 3/4" or 8/10" farther than the former would.
(HD was wondering if he walked into a trap from the guy with 20,000 post counts.)
