Insurance question

I have a job offer in Florida, near Tampa, and I was wondering how much insurance will be for my 2009 TSX?

^call insurance companies in or near Tampa Florida to get an estimate

you will not get a ballpark or an estimate from us; because EACH person is different. and there are different variables that account for your insurance rate. everything from credit score to previous accidents to where you live, age, married or single and other factors determine insurance rate.

so, pick up the phone and call some insurance companies

Thanks for saying this. I thought I was the only one who understood this concept that there are always to many variables going into any insurance quote to get any meaningful estimate on an Internet forum. It is always best to get quotes from the sources. (Yeah, I was employed insurance for almost 35 years.)

Thanks for the "help"........

I know there are mant variables but every insurance company wants an address before they give a quote and I have not bought a house yet so I was hoping that I could get an idea or two from some residents in Florida just to get a ballpark figure.

As for it being cheaper then in Quebec I seriously doubt it, as I pay just over $800/ year combined for my 2009 TSX and our 2011 Odyssey.

I am in Vancouver and I pay around $2000 a year. So US insurance is MUCH cheaper

"Near Tampa" isn't close enough. Insurance rates vary wildly from zip code to zip and can even vary amongst a city block. Google "US insurance rates by state" to give you a rough idea of differences by state. You can also download a cost of living calculator that takes all that into consideration.

Asking here is senseless.

Car insurance isn't the type of insurance I would worry about. Wind Storm and Hail insurance on your house will be your largest insurance bill. Tampa is in Hurricane territory. If you buy a house you will need Wind Storm and Hail. A normal homeowners policy won't cover this. Where I live I pay over $2K/yr for this and we have a modest house over 30 miles in land. That is in addition to a normal homeowners policy and flood insurance. Add another 700-800/yr for those two.

This isn't a lot, don't bitch . Obviously I know that a lot of factors go into insurance as just stated but at the same time if you aren't happy with your current rates than get more quotes.

Now that I think about, why is insurance more expensive (on average) for our Canadian brethren compared to the US?

Give them a call. A 2009 TSX isn't going to cause a high rate in the US anywhere.

That's actually not a bad deal. Though rates vary considerably based on where the car is "garaged" (their term), MA has had some of the highest rates in the county for many years (and very few companies that actually write insurance in MA)(let's say you don't have to take your shoes off to count them all). This of course begs the question "How's that state regulated rates/no competition thing working out for you?".

Everyones rates are diffrent. you need to call or go online to get a quote. no one here can give you a specific price due to unknown factors as age, driving history, additional cars etc. i pay 1600.00 every 6 months threw Geico. hope this helps
