installing a thumb shifter possible?

I hate paddle shifters and the one thing I'd like is to have shifting capabilities on the stick with + - like the 1st gen tsx. I noticed on some newer cars that they have a thumb shifter (new malibu) on the stick. Would it be possible to just tap into the paddle shifters and install and thumb shifter on the stick?

It's fun to just throw it in manual shift but it's wierd shifting with the paddles when you make a turn and i find it easier to shift it with your right hand on the stick.

Appreciate any feedback.

when I test drove the malibu it did feel alil wierd when it was on top but I remember another car, forget which one, that had a toggle on the side of the shift knob which was alot more comfortable. Kind of hoping it was something somewhat simple like tapping into the paddles and running it to a 3way toggle on the shift knob.

I'm not big on the thumb shifts. My dad's Raptor has the thump shifter, but more on the side of the shift. The TSX has a sporty pedigree, so it makes sense to have paddle shifters over thumb shifters, but that's just me. The slap shifter from the old TL's were pretty fun to use as well, I just could not get the hang of the thumb shifters.
