I tried to take my center console out of my 2012 TSX, using one of the guides written on here. It was a really well written guide but I ended up breaking one of the clips. The guide was written for a 2009/10 non SE so maybe my 2012 A-spec was different. Pretty much there was a part on the guide where it said grab and pull straight up as hard as you can and so I did...haha. Gave up on the project and still have yet to install my short shifter.

If all else fails, go to eautorepair.com and pay like $12.00 for a subscription to Mitchells. This on line system has everything there is to know about the TSX. Every wiring diagram, every procedure for removing and repairing and you can print each section for future use. I love it.

do you need to remove the sides first? Or that's it?

if you need to remove the not an ashtray unit, then you need to remove the passenger strip, then the 2 center rails

There's one screw under the "non-ashtray" pocket and then it pulls up and out

The passenger trim pulls forward and out exposing one screw, and there are 2 screws under the
shifter bezel which hold the center rails
