Honda Accord/Acura TSX Class Action Settlement Approval (Court Granted)
Hello everyone, thought I share/info what I received today RE: Rear Brakes Class Action Lawsuit Accord/TSX finally Granted by the Court.
I drive an 09 Honda Accord V6 EXL by far this is my 3rd rear brake pads replacement at 26k, had the squeal and judder issue since 3k
Update: Honda Accord and Acura TSX Class Action Settlement Approval
1. Settlement Approval
We are pleased to announce that the Court granted final approval of the Honda and Acura Rear Brake Pad Class Action Settlement on July 29, 2010.
2. Effective Date
The Effective Date, which is the date the settlement becomes final, will likely be August 28, 2010, unless further legal proceedings cause a delay. Girard Gibbs will update its website (www.GirardGibbs.com/HondaBrakes.asp) and send another update once the Effective Date is set.
3. Status of Claims
The Claims Administrator has received and is currently processing over 40,000 claims. By August 25, 2010, you will be able to call the Claims Administrator (1-888-398-8211) to determine whether your claim was received.
4. Schedule for Reimbursements
The claims administrator will begin sending out checks and deficiency notices to class members within 10 days of the Effective Date and, for claims received after the Effective Date, within 10 days of their receipt. The only exception is for claims for repairs using non-Honda or non-Acura parts, which may take longer than 10 days to process.
5. Repair Deadlines
The deadline for obtaining reimbursable rear brake repairs for your Honda or Acura is 3 years after your vehicle was first sold or leased. The only exception is for people whose vehicle was first sold or leased before October 25, 2007 – for those class members, the deadline is October 25, 2010. For example:
-- If your car was first sold or leased on or before October 25, 2007, you can obtain a reimbursable repair anytime before October 25, 2010.
-- If your car was first sold or leased on or after October 26, 2007, you can obtain a reimbursable repair anytime within 3 years of the sale or lease date.
6. Timeline for Submitting Claims
We recommend that you submit your claims as soon as possible after having a repair performed. For most future repairs, the deadline will be within 90 days of when the repair is performed. Claim forms are available at www.GirardGibbs.com/HondaBrakes.asp.
