Hit a curb

so crapy luck i took a green too fast and went into a slide. i was going 20-30 mph and the front right rim hit the curb straight on and broke a piece off. On the way home it was creaking and grinding so i drove slowly. what kind of damage may i be looking at? axel damage? thanks for the help

wow, I've honestly never seen anything like this before. You may have damaged your suspension; how did your steering feel on the way home?

On the flip side you now have a reason to get some after market wheels

Damn....that's a huge chunk of wheel missing. I've acutally hit a curb just as hard before in my old Maxima. I had to replace the lower control arm (I think that's what its called), shock (used this as a reason to buy some aftermarket springs), and had to get the front end aligned. The car had a very bad vibration after that, that never went away. Also one of my CV axles popped out about 8K miles later. I had to let her go after that.....

DANG. You went into a SLIDE at 20-30 MPG? On a left handed turn? On city streets?

That wheel is a goner. Not even the guy who fixed the road rash on my wheels is gonna be able to fix your rim. LOL.

Better take it into your dealer.

damn, thats messed up. hope it doesnt cost much to get fixed, you should probably tey to get aftermarket wheels now since the cost of the oem acura rim & tire is probably not cheap.

and that's how I met my friend TE-37.

edit: I don't follow your story. What did you slide on? Or did the car just understeer wide into the curb?

looks like someone took a bite on your wheels lol

i'd say..check if anything else is screwd up, if its just the rims, get a cheap used one. even if it has some curb, at least its better than what u got now lol

unless of course, u got the $$ for new set of aftermarkets

search on E-bay i think ul find just 1 rime at a good price.

or u can use this bad luck to buy a new set of rimes (sry evil)

Sorry about the wheels. Take it to the dealer to make sure there's no suspension damages.

In the meantime, a quick check at craiglist in Miami shows a set of 4 17" TL rims which should fit your car for $180 but they may go pretty fast at this price.

oh... forgot, (no edit tool) for any damage you should consider 2 times the impact and check the suspension and the flight angle... posible threats but in my history with honda (i have european accord same as tsx) u realy have to work hard the car for a damage...

Update - went to the dealer they first wanted to replace the rim and do an alignment to see if it was bent. after replacing the rim alignment was off and you can even see that the wheel bent back in the well. so they want to replace the lower arm, knuckle, hub, clip, ring and bearing which brings the repair to a few dollars short of $2000. they said that after replacing those parts and the alignment was still off the sub frame of the car could be bent which would tack another $1400 on the repair.
i'm pretty young and insurance is outrageously high for a 21 yr old in miami *$5k annually* so i'm gonna sell some stock to pay for the repair out of pocket. i know the repair is pretty expensive but i'm not sure i should take it somewhere else since the car has 13k and i was planning on getting another 6-8 years off of it. what do you guys think?

Best case scenario, you only bent a tie rod and need a new rim/tire. Worse case, you have a bent frame etc.

Take it to a reputable auto body shop. The dealer may end up replacing everything and still not getting it right. Remember, a dealer can change oem parts, but body work and frame work they farm out to auto collision body shop. I agree with so-cal, you CV joint may be toasted, they will throw the alignment way off.

The first car I owned was a 1981 Pontiac T1000 which is basically a Chevette. I got into an accident and got all the body work done, the shop told me I need the frame straighten out as they can't get my alignment straight. This is a rwd car, so I took it to my trusted mechanic, and it turned to be a bented spindle, problem solved. Long story short, the CV joint should definitely be looked at before any frame repair.

$5k is too high price. even $2K for new car. try to trade it with another used 2009 TSX with similar price with dealer. Most likely you will pay couple of grand extra but you will get CPO

Idk how they are looked at in the car word.. since they are the only way to make a fwd car pretty much.. but in the world of trucks they are to be babied and if all that was broken, I would listen carefully to the cv joints for popping.. or look for a tear in the boot.
