Hid turns off after some time

Hi guys,
i have a 2009 tsx. one of the low beam HID stopped working so i ordered a pair from amazon. i replaced both of them since i had taken the bumper off anyway.

one thing i noticed which i had no idea of is when i took the old HIDs off they were 35 watts.
the ones i installed are 55 watts. i dont know if that is causing the HID to turn off or there is some other issue?

also what would be a good replacement HID?
i looked at DDMTuning website. they have the replacement bulbs but they dont have the wattage.
i hope i can get some help here.

thanks

Bulbs don't determine the wattage, its the ballast that determines the wattage. If you want decent quality bulbs don't buy cheap bulbs, buy Osram CoolBlueIntense d2s bulbs or buy oem replacements. As far as the bulb shutting off, it might be a bad ballast.

thanks for the reply,
if the ballast was bad it should shut the old bulb off also. i had the osram in it 35 watt.
how do i determine if the balast is bad?
also do i have to replace the balast with OEM balast?

thanks

Don't buy DDM bulbs, they're notoriously unreliable. Buy a quality bulb and ensure that variable is taken care of to see if the ballast is bad. OEM is fine or cheaper quality aftermarket bulbs like TheRetrofitSource's Morimoto XB35 bulbs are a good bang for your buck.

So did you replaced oem bulbs with DDM bulbs? Or did you replace the oem bulbs and ballast with DDM bulb and ballast?

To figure out if a ballast is bad, just swap it to the other side, if the problem follows it then that's your issue. If it doesn't then it's your bulb.
Unless you been messing with electrical stuff then you have to check other things to figure out your problem if it's not your ballast or bulb.

I would not use ddm bulbs for my main headlights, don't be cheap and go get the oem ones or at least the morimoto's, quality and price go hand to hand here.
