I am trying to figure out how to transport a 1973 Super Beetle 900 miles. It is not running, so a normal car transporter isn't going to take it.
I have no issues making the round trip drive, as I get to see family when I pick it up.
Has anyone towed anything with the 4 cylinder (Wagon if it makes a difference)? Is there a rated towing capacity?
Thanks
1,000lb towing capacity listed in the Acura manual. I have the hitch mentioned above on my Sport Wagon (same as Curt 11085) and it works great with a hitch mounted bicycle rack.
If the Beetle can roll, you could try using a tow bar instead. I live on a major Interstate that goes down into Mexico and I see a constant stream of really tired cars towing 2-3 other cars using tow bars.
Usually you'll have to remove the bumper cover and then you bolt the tow bar directly to the bumper.
This would solve a few problems, like the tongue weight compressing your rear, and the weight of the trailer overloading the TSX's capacity.
