Help me decide what lugs to get.

I want to get a new set of lug nuts for my RonJon Legends. Currently, I'm just using the ones that came with the wheels that are really no different than OEM. I would really like to replace them with a locking set. I like the Project KICs lugs, but not sure if I should go with the black set to sort of match the car, or get the neo chrome. I'm also not sure if I should get the R26's (short) or the R40's (long). I don't want them to petrude from the lug holes at all, just not a fan of that. However I also don't want them to be too short to show the stugs either. What do you guys think? Feel free to recommend something else as well.

R40 in Neo Chrome:

R40 in Black:

R26 in Black:

R26 in Neo Chrome. This is sort of the length I'd like:

This is too long:

The wheels and car they would be going on:

how about Rays Engineering Lug Nuts? I believe they have it in the polished chrome one like the first picture. Not sure if they stick out too much or not

Not a big fan of Rays lugs. I have yet to see a set that really appeals to my taste. Even the neo chrome Project KICs ones are a stretch for me as I'm pretty conservative. But I think they 'may' be a nice touch.

Any suggestions besides the Project KICs R26's in black above?

I think your car looks great as it is... the neo-chrome definitely doesn't work for me, it looks "kiddish" but of course to each his own.

Do you have to get alternate color locking nuts? Why not keep the same color?

If I had to pick from the choices you listed, I'd get R26 black. Otherwise, I'd stick with chrome-colored. I've heard good things about Gorilla locking nuts, but when I got my wheels I just got the ones they sell on Tire Rack.

Darren, are the seats on the RJ lugs tapered or ball? All Honda stock wheels are (or at least they used to be) ball seats, ( )(hemispherical shaped) where the ones in the pics you posted are tapered seats. \ /

If the RJ wheels use tapered seats (like most of the rest of the world does except for VW, Audi?) then the ones you posted will work fine. If the RJ's emulate the stock lugs, you'd want to get the ball seats & I don't know if any aftermarket companies make them, but it's possible.

If they are tapered, I'd get the RAYS lugs. I like the RAYS, they're superlight, duralumin and a 5 sided nut, not a standard hex or recessed hex or tuner lug. Now someone with a RAYS key can get them right off, but most thugs wouldn't be able to get them off. Also, think about the difference in unsprung weight. Weigh 20 chrome jobbies then compare to the RAYS.

IMHO, the open end race lugs don't suit your car. The reason for them in the first place is for certain race classes you have to have the equivalent of the diameter of your stud sticking through the open end nut. I think your car is too classy styled for Ricky Racer stuff. Not that that is bad, just a different style.

I'm quite positive the RJ's are tapered.

As for the Rays lugs, I'm not a fan. One of my major peeve with them as well is they scratch very easily if you get colored ones.

I'm thinking the black R26's above may not stand out too much and might be a decent look. I'm still not sure though.

Mine currently are not spline drive, they are similar to the stock lugs, they're the one's RJ sent me with the wheels. If I had spline drive ones, I wouldn't need new ones.

Also, keep in mind, there will eventually be a BBK behind the wheels.

Yeah, I sort of like these and don't think they'd look out of place on my wheels.

I think I'm going to order a set of the black R26's. Probably going to be ordering them with something else that shall remain nameless until you guys see pics of it installed.

Maybe, maybe not.

Not saying much until it goes through. I don't like to be the type of person that's all talk and no show, so I don't want to say a whole lot.

Man that's a ways away. I'll try and make it, but that's the weekend after my son's 1 year b-day (Dec. 3rd), and I don't know yet what we're doing that day. I'll be there if we have no major plans.

^It is a while away, but I thought I would start spreading the word early so we aren't trying to get everybody together at the last minute.

And that's totally understandable if you can't make it. Family first!
