Which piece are you calling the sash? The vertical piece at the b-pillar? The horizontal piece at the bottom of the window? Or the slightly "L" shaped piece at the top of the window?

Horizontal piece needs to be approached from inside the door. Remove the inner panel, the water barrier, mirror, and any ancillary bits to get access to the trim. There are a bunch of clips that need to be released so it can pull out.

The "L" shaped piece at the top is held in with a screw at the b-pillar sash piece, I believe, and then a bunch of adhesive running the length of it. Supposedly, it doesn't come out without bending it, so just start prying it out and breaking the adhesive bond.

The b-pillar trim piece, unfortunately, calls out for the per trim to be removed first. Then there are just a couple clips holding it to the door mid-panel. Pull up and away from the car to remove.

Ah, thinking about it, if you're replacing the chrome piece, it's likely not the b-pillar one. So it's one of the first two...

thanks cu2wagon. it was the "L" piece. found the screw and just peeled it off - very easy. hardest part was removing the adhesive! thanks again.
