Headlights

Hi everyone- 1st off, great forum. I learned tons here before picking up our new 2010 TSX PMM Base 6spd yesterday. Took it out for a spin last light and noticed what a huge difference the headlights are over our old 2002 Maxima. Really wide throw on low beams, but the unusual thing I noticed was what I would call a "horizon". The headlights are so focused, there is virtually no light above the "horizon" on low beams. I suspect this is for on-coming drivers, as the hi-beams fill in above the "horizon" nicely. Just really struck me as different compared to all the other cars we have owned. Anyone else notice this? I tried doing a search, but did not find anything on this.

Its great isn't it? There actually is quite a bit of light above the "horizon" you just don't get use to it for a week or two, after that you'll never use your high beams again.. Ah I love the HID's so much it makes me smile just thinking about it, It's like sunlight everywhere you go no matter what time of night

I was really surprised how bright they are down low. I am sure you are right about them taking some getting used to, I thought the same thing. I was amazed how wide the throw was. Our Maxima had great headlights for 2002- but nothing like these. What a difference.

yeah i love the HIDs
i was looking through the manual trying to find a way to raise or lower the angle.
i dont know if its just me, or everyone's are like this but my driver's side light is angled lower than that of the passenger side. all the manual says is to take it to the dealer. is it easy to do? ive seen plenty of cars where you can turn a bolt somewhere to change the light.
anyone else try it?

your drivers side light is lower then the passenger side so you don't blind on coming traffic, it is the way head lights are always aligned.

it took a couple of weeks to get used to the "horizon" line, but compared to halogens, hids are amazing.

Yeah, sure. Look in the owners manual they describe the process to raise and lower headlights. Its as easy as turning a screw I believe. I haven't done it myself.

I have been told since I dropped my car 4 inches I shuold level them again, But I like them the way they are.

i tried looking through the manual and i remember it saying to take to the dealer to get it done. i figured it would be as easy as turning a screw but there wasnt any mention of it.

I've never fully adjusted to the sharp cut-off point of the HIDS. They're an exceptional pain in the ass while going up a steep hill because they shine the majority of their light directly in front of the car, leaving a sea of blackness above the line. This is where auto-leveling HIDS come in such great handy.

I digress, though, the HIDS are amazing everywhere else, and they look intimidating, as well.

The halogens have that "horizon" as well, but HIDs are so bright that the difference between the two areas is so great you virtually can't see too well above the horizon. I often use my high beams to illuminate the area above the horizon, such as when going up a hill, frequent turns, and such..

Some cars have the auto leveling low beams.. In the infiniti FX and QX u can make them higer and lower by using a switch in the car..

Meh, Maybe its because i'm young. The horizon doesn't blind me when i'm coming up to a hill, I've gotten use to the light above the horizon. Never use my high beams

LOL, mine don't come on till I open the door.

To raise the headlights there are two holes on either side of your engine bay and they have "R" and "L" and show you which direction to twist.. I assume these are to raise and lower the headlights. I saw this yesterday when complaining to the body shop about my hood.
